Was there some ITK on Vydra (Udinese striker who was at Watford last year)? Just signed a loan deal at WBA - they seem to get decent striker loan deals. If we are to get one more striker in, what is the chance there may also be a loan deal in there?

Defoe himself was calling for striking reinforcements earlier in the summer. I think he's reached an age where he's happy to be a tool used when necessary rather than a starting XI player, and I respect that.

He frustrated the hell out of me frequently but he was getting us the points last season before Bale ignited and from his various interviews I think he's one of the few players that really does love the club.
In addition I think JD would love to finish his career with us and win things. He knows that to do that we need some striking additions. There are few better strikers to bring on for the last 20 mins of a game than Defoe and I think he knows his worth

Always liked Scotty P but he didn't look fully up to it at times last season and I think a move to QPR will be very good for him (and, unfortunately, for them).

As it stands it looks like we'll have replaced Parker with Capoue and Livermore with Paulinho. Pretty good upgrading methinks.

As for the 'loadsamoney' ITK yesterday, I'll still be surprised if we go in for an Eriksen, Pjanic or Lamela until a few more have gone out the other way.

Rumours here in Hull is that Huddlestone is close. Not sure about their veracity though mind.

So we have the green light to spend whatever we need to be contenders eh? Now? After 12 years of being careful? After Jol took us to two 5th place finishes? After we qualified for the champions league in Redknapp's time and he said we needed a quality striker to make us contenders? After AVB last season wanted Moutinho and Willian last season and got Dembele and Dempsey instead? Now we have the green light?

All I can say that to if true, is LOL. It just shows that there wasn't sufficient trust placed in the coaches that Levy himself and the board appointed. I suppose I could just blow a lot of smoke up Levy's and Lewis arses and say what a great job they done but there are enough people to do that around here already. I think it's just a crying shame because there is a lot of wasted years gone by when we could have got CL football.

First of all Coopsie, get well. My sister had a PE stemming from a leg break, it's serious sh*t but once it's been found, treatable. She has made a full recovery and I'm sure you will do the same(y)

Have to say I'm pleased to be seeing Scotty go, he's not the player he was and a huge drain on resources if not a 1st team regular. However, that doesn't detract from the fact that he was a really good player for us in his first season, and always gave his all, so good luck to him.

Livermore loan seems to be a good thing, it's clear from yesterday's thread that there is a mixture of opinion on here on him, so a loan where he can test himself at a high level will give us a good idea whether we should be keeping him or not. Chances would be limited with Capoue on his way.

Oh, and morning all. Especially Stoof;)

Not sure there was ITK on him. Just paper talk iirc.

Doesn't mean it was a trust issue. Could simply have been a 'we didn't have that kind of money' issue.

We've just received a load of cash from increased TV money which must make a significant difference, and on top of that we have an asset on our books that will be worth at least £50m if we decide to cash in, giving us significant comfort in terms of spending money now.

On top of that it's the last year (supposedly) that we can spend money on this scale before FFP properly kicks in, and there could even be more to it than that (i.e. confidence in money coming in from sponsorships/ or even in the long term through the stadium).

Whilst I agree that the timing for pushing the boat out seemed better back in CL years, it may simply be that financially we're in a position to do this now where we weren't before.

So the latest ITK is that Parker is not off to QPR or have i read that wrong?

Saw rumours that he was at the watford game at the weekend so that's the only other place i can think of if he's dropping down

His brother-in-law (Harry Arter) plays for Bournemouth. He watches quite a few AFCB games.

If Parker is going to QPR i think that says he doesnt imagine making the world cup squad, surely we should only be picking players playing at the level. Overall i like Parker and think he was a good signing but i have to admit being disappointed that there wasnt more to his game, he certainly appeared to have more of an offensive threat in his early years

Was at the start of the window, was a backup plan for a second striker but things have changed big time since then!

Over the last few years we have been happy to pick Championship players for the England side. I think England managers are looking at form as well as the level that players are playing at.

If Parker leads QPR back to PL, putting in the sort of performances he did at West Ham and his first season with us, he has every chance of making the plane.

Lol no. Apparently it's most likely to be linked to the op I had on my achilles 3 weeks ago. I was having to take daily blood thinning injections for 2 weeks but it seems the fortnight wasn't long enough & I've got this as a result, now I'll have 6 months of injections :( . Anyway, not the place for this shit, I was just explaining why I haven't donated. COYS
Sorry to hear of your recent meetings with hospital beds. Hope you make a full recovery, I'm sure I am just echoing all the others boys & girls on SC when I say that. Best wishes from all

Yeah I've heard all that, but we were getting TV money before that not as much but a lot, we also would have raked it in from getting CL football, we had sponsorship deals for a long time too.

I mean we based ourself on a certain model which is unearthing young talent for a reasonable fee, we still have that model be we also seem to be like chelsea/Man city now with this green light. People hammer away at Chelsea/Man City because of their spending but when we start spending people love it and they don't mind if it's at the expense of good talent that we bought for a reasonable fee like Sig and Holtby.
