If you look at the transfers so far this summer and the players we are being linked with I don't think there is any feel of panic to it.

So far we have added Chadli, Soldado and Paulinho, with Capoue looking likely. Each of these players fits perfectly into the way AVB likes to play, the midfielders are big, strong and competitive; Chadli is capable of playing both wings and scores goals from outwide; and Soldado is a goal scorer.

This summer is the first time in a while I have felt we have a solid plan. We know the type of players we are looking for and we know which players are available to sell. It is very un-Spurs like I grant you. However, even if we have 9 new players and 10 departures at the end of the window, I still think of squad will have plenty of unity to it. In short, i'm excited, as we look like a different beast, one that is willing to do what is necessary to progress.

I'm not getting too excited till I've seen this group over a few games - the old group got us with one point of fourth so I don't think they were too shabby.

Feet firmly planted on ground and looking forward with 'interest' to the new season.

I see you are a fan of Modern family - great show - I'm a 'Jay' in character - you sound a little more "excitable" ;)

We have been in ffp for the last 3 years. Each club put in their financials in june and a decision will be made by may.

We are fine. You can make a loss of £39m.

Over the last 3 years we have spent around £0 net on players. As our wages are about 60% of turnover. If our average turnover was £150m over the 3 years, that means.

£150-90-0= £60x3+£39=£229m to spend without breaching ffp.

My point exactly!! Thanks for the figures Lilbaz

I'm more of a Pritchett too. Just sometimes you have to have a little faith, and the way this window is going, I think this is one of those situations.

Here's a good site to see what we've spent in previous years...

I think we are further along the line than just agreeing a fee. We may well of agreed personal terms too. Fingers crossed cant confirm as im at work.

I really hope he is right.

If someone had told me we would have signed Soldado, Chadli and Paulinho at this point in the window and be closing in on deals for Capoue and Halilovic, I would have laughed at them. Good times.

If we had sign him, I hope he plays with the first team....

We need one striker, defender and left back.

If Carroll was good enough he'd get in ahead of Hudd. Carroll needs to get minutes, but it seems AVb would rather these minutes at another club - hopefully a PL loan for a season.
i hope Hudd stays and backs his ability. He's been out a long time with injury but if he can stay fit for a while and manage his injury then he offers us an ability no other player in the squad has. Even against Espanyol he played a pass out to Townsend, while getting clattered, that resulted in townsend curling just wide. he will be a bench player, but maybe thats what he needs to manage his injuries...

And we need a Plan B!!

It is all very well looking at all our new signings and all trying to work out what formation they are going to play, and who will play where aka Plan A.

But what happens when this does not work, we end back in the 'arry era.

I agree that Hudd is an excellent squad player, and is more than capable of picking out that killer pass to a Soldado or even a Defoe when we are 0 - 0 with 15 minutes to go (which we all know will happen even with all the new signings)

I may be wrong, but I thought that we got a nice big chunk of TV money this year - £60Million seems to be a figure I've seen. If true JL may have just said that we could use all of that on new players.

I was a huge Juande Ramos (loved watching his Savilla team) fan - that did for my faith...................................;)

Not exact figures by any means and ffp is more complicated than that. You don't count u21s wages or players whos contracts started before 2010. But it gives a rough idea.

Also transfer fees are also spread over the contract for ffp. So if we bought a £25m player on a 5 year contract it would count as £5m per year.

Average footballer, cocky prat and not to mention a thug... No thankyou.

'Watford FC striker Troy Deeney, 23, was recorded by CCTV cameras kicking one of the victims in the head.
One man suffered a broken jaw and another required 20 stitches as a result of the brawl in Broad Street.'

Wilshere mk.2 Gawd. Ta but no Ta.

It says we spent 30 million on Soldado. That can't be right.

It seems to be wrong on some of the fees, e.g. - we didn't pay 3 million for Fryers, and it doesn't list Dempsey as an outgoing.

Fees are probably educated guesses based on different media reports, when they haven't been officially released.

But then we did sing Woodgate........... Anyway, good strike rate at championship level but doesn't look like a top prem striker to me. Parker going i think is ineviatble and i hope he gets a good club as he is a good pro, money to spend is a must i feel with City, Chelsea and Utd all looking flush, I think the freeing up of Arsenals pot has scared Spurs into acting before those 4 seperate themselves again from the pack. I'm pretty sure the Stadium will be number 1 focus from September 3 this year and making sure that it happens asap.

Adding up all the ITK and info from Andre about a squad overhaul i'd probably assume we're looking to do something along the lines of:

If Bale stays:
Capoue
Coentrao
A CB (Chiriches, Toby or whoever)
Eriksen possibly
Damiao or another quality striker- With the Goat's and Grey Fox's info it would make sense for us to try.
Lamela- we might look at bringing him in now before his price rockets.
Parker, Jake, Benny, possibly Hudd and one or both of Defoe & Adebayor out
Carroll out on loan

If Bale goes:
All of the above plus Lamela as a definite
I think we could also look at someone from the left if we sold Lennon or Townsend. (Pastore? Willian? etc.)

Onion.

This is the kind of signing i like, hope and potential. Doesn't always work out, for every Bale there is a Bostock but it's these kind of deals that can be the building of the next team (and potentially the funding of the one after ala Bale)
