Can someone explain to me why everyone is in such a frenzy about selling Holtby?

He hasn't shown much to suggest he is anything better than average.

Because Sherwood is all but confirmed as an interim manager (18 month contract), so should he be shaping our squad to the degree that he is letting young players with potential go just because he is not a fan or they don't fit into his 'system' when a new tactically astute manager might come in and want different things? Capoue is the same, he showed great potential earlier on in the season before injuries/centre back showings.

I think this is also coupled with the assumed itk that Lamela is not fancied by TS, which is what I have the hump about. If we were to get rid of Erik based on Sherwoods appraisal then I would be majorly disillusioned.

I thought it was more cos he got found out, or at least his info was too close?
IIRC he wasn't wrong and that single ' :( ' was the start of the Bale drama and caused meltdown.

Read-only access for guests disappeared pretty soon after, I think, so I missed out on all the fun.

I think I feel quite frustrated and quite guilty about it because I don't feel like he's actually got a decent run in the team to really adapt and prove himself.

We also had ITK from BEN saying that Holtby was going in order to make room for Lamela. Are you ignoring that?

fecking morning dockers biscuit... it's like we just can;t behave like a big club.... just accept that it is a good situation to have more players than we need.. ...

a) Holtby isnt going to get a look in with all the other midfielders we have. We should be wanting whats best for the kid, he wants to play, so it has to be another club till at least the summer. I hope he comes back then and we reassess then against the other players we have...

b) TS actually made a lot of sense in his post CP interview. He even said Lamela playing off the front man as a long term vision. Astute. So for the press and naysayers who are trying to add more shit to the pile our club has created for itself... please eff off till the summer.

If you think our manager/s are responsible for transfers and player sales then you know nothing about THFC.

Have you heard of someone called Daniel Levy?

We sell three world class players under AVB's management and it's Levy's fault.

We threaten to sell squad player who has never reached his potential under Sherwoods management and it's Sherwood's fault and he gets pelters for it.

Double standards!

Who is the squad player who never reached his potential? Is it the 23 year-old Holtby who runs all over the place and shows nothing but passion for the club? Is it Capoue who was one of our best signings before he got hurt? Is it Sigurdsson, who is consistently played out of position, but still works hard to be in the team every week?

Basically, I don't think anybody should be on the way out this window. We have a deep and talented squad and just need an addition or two (at LB and a back up striker) and we have a seemingly interim manager who shouldn't be freezing out any of these players.

I'm behind Sherwood, because he has brought in a breath of fresh air with the freedom he's given the players, but I'm also behind the players he isn't playing and don't think that they should be sold.

Obviously Levy is the one who runs the club, but if players and being used, they'll want out and it's the manager who decides the lineups.

the sensible option would be to loan the players that tim wants to let go and let the new manager decide in the summer who is to go (again, it a never ending story every two years with Levy, Moyes wouldnt last a wet week if Levy was at the helm of united).

That is why I said 'assumed' itk, and used 'if', nothing has been taken as gospel, thank you. If Lamela is given a chance then great, but I have not seen that indication yet. In fact, judging by Sherwoods interview in regards to the amazingness of Townsend today it seems that he definitely already has his favorites based on questionable traits.

I like Lewis, he was billed as our new VDV but it never worked out for him, love him to go on Loan and perfom and push his price up, or maybe do a season loan to a premier league team to see if he can cut it (that's what I did in FM2014)
