Poch said a couple of times that we have to be clever on the transfer market. If it means to wait for the right moment & the right players so it's ok for me, whether in the pipeline or through the grapevine or even through the keyhole, I am not about to lose my mind.

a bit of clever and a bit of ruthlessness

It's good to hear that there are things in the pipeline. Last year we didn't have the depth of squad to cope with PL and CL, so it's important we get a couple of quality players in to augment the squad.

Over the last few years we have seen the squad getting stronger by a mix of buying (OK not all have been successful but enough to make a big difference), promoting young players and significantl improvements in existing layers. Yet, as you say, we need to add extra quality depth to the squad as we are now competing at a higher level than even one year ago. Now expectations are high, as they should be, so making top four is not good enough as an aim ... we want the title and to compete strongly in Europe.

if we can also add a player or two might be better than what we have that would be ideal. Who I don't know but you know with Poch he is likely to come up with something

i just hope we sign the right player, if not i rather have no one. pipeline means fuck all if it turns out to be a 30m sissoko, then having to sell him again after a season

Honestly, is that even ITK? Surely everyone expected us to sign someone..... eventually ie. transfer deadline day. It's just stating the obvious.

My guess is it's a response to all the bed wetters to screw their head back on and start thinking straight

Not suprised its quiet..

We have one of the best Goalies, top fullbacks, best central defenders, monster midfield, one of the most creative players in Eriksen, the most highly rated attacking youngster in Dele, and the PL top scorer in Kane.

The only place you might look is a viable alternative to Son/Lamela, but on their day they are class players too.

Unless Messi and Ronaldo decide to waltz through the door i think recruitment this summer is rather tricky.

One of the articles about our transfer activity says that Janssen was 15th in our squad for minutes played this season. It didn't seem like we saw much of him, so that shows we have used the 14 above him most of the time, and the rest of our squad were hardly used. We will need to use more if we are to prosper in more than one competition, so I hope we do find someone that Poch wants to play.

Personally I'm still hoping Janssen gets more time, as I think he can really play. Gotta admit I doubt he will get enough chances now though, as we have all been a bit spoilt by Dele coming through so quickly and "easily". In my mind his progress is exceptional, and we will normally need more patience if we are to have effective recruitment. Son, for example, was fine in year one, and excellent in year 2. That should be accepted as fine I think. Perhaps Janssen will be better this year as well. Maybe some of the others as well. Looking forward to season 2 for Winks, as his first season was pretty good too, without being on the same level as CE yet, or MD, VW, SHM, etc.

The ITK is very informative, and I'm enjoying reading through it all. (keeping it on topic as necessary)

You're correct to say that our 1st team is top notch. However I don't agree that we can't make improvements to the squad. Last season during the autumn we picked up a couple of injuries and our CL campaign, and to a lesser extent our league form, suffered as a result. In my view it was due to a lack of quality backup players.

Can we improve on the likes of Sissoko and Nkoudou without breaking the bank? In my opinion, yes.

So to veer back to the ITK discussion, I am certainly hoping that deals are in the "pipeline".

Our transfer dealings since Pochettino came in do seem to go largely under the radar. I think that just shows the professional nature that he has brought into the club. We'll do things behind the scenes and only hear about them when the deal is close or done. At least we can feel comfortable that things are happening behind the scenes and hopefully we'll get something done soon. It would great to have a new player for the pre-season tour of the US.

If we do struggle to get anyone before the season kicks off I wonder if we'll reveal Lamela as a new signing and see if anyone notices.

lamela wont be back until second half by the earliest - by the time he has recovered we will be in swing of the season and he won't have played a single minute on or off the field, from there it could be 6 months easily before he is ready to play again

For gods sake man, do NOT write things in blue in this thread!! You'll give us all heart attacks/erections.

And not necessarily in that order, one may lead to the other with the age of some of the feckers in here ...... including me!
