Leeds and Sheffield Wednesday have bigger stadiums than WHL but that hasn't guaranteed them success.
They also charge peanuts and have poor corporate facilities. New stadium doesn't guarantee anything but bigger turnover means more to spend on transfers and wages. Gives us a better chance.

Are people forgetting that we pulled the trigger on plenty of player very early and got rid of loads. Yeah we needed a CF but the world isn't perfect.

I think we go into this season much stronger, if Son clicks early and Njie can slot in over the coming months we'll be set. We also have a de-cluttered squad now so we can add that CF or DM in now without shifting personnel.

Reports have it that we put £25m in cash on the table for Berahino so we are willing to spend.

Some of you lot know so little about consent I'd worry for you if you ever when to a night club.

apart from his player trading shortcomings, im worried when its wembley v mk he will simply chose the cheaper option. old timers in particular take the piss out of tourists, but they form an ever increasing proportion of the attendance. their money, and allegiance, and the value of our brand where they hail from is highly valuable. at wembley these bods will roll in. at mk they wont. would be a big miss.

at the stoke game we had three lads from korea in front of us. they really got into it, looked gutted when they equalised etc.. spent big money in the shop. we chatted to new yorkers waiting for shirt printing. im past the stage where these people annoy me, i think we need themmore than they need us.

we would also be able to reach out to more domestic fans thanks to the higher capacity, ease of transport links, atraction of national stadium.

but i think denial will find a way to fck this up too.

I said when Mitchell was employed Levy won't change, he will still do his deadline shit and it's proved to be the case.
Exactly what Poch was afraid of.

I thought it was spiders he was afraid of?

meh, If you know him personally I'll concede that one.

You have to think they are more diehard than people who live locally. European away games we always see the amsterdam spurs, the new york spurs (guy has the best tash i've ever seen) the antwerp spurs. They travel all over watching us. I sometimes whinge about the walk to seven sisters.

Good point. Basically, there's room for everyone - or there will be in 2018ish. I'm not about tell someone who has flown faazends of miles and several time zones on their own dime to support the team I love that they're not real fans. Last time I managed to find the time to get down the Lane was watching Pav score the lone goal in a win, against Blackburn I think it was, and I live in London!

I've travelled throughout my life, living in different countries for stretches when I was younger due to my parents' work, and now for my own work etc. Its rare I don't stumble across someone with a Spurs affiliation. Some of my most cherished chats have actually been the with randoms halfway across the world. It's a visceral and instant connection between two strangers. You can tell the difference between someone slipping on the shirt as a fashion statement (weirdest fashion statement ever but...) and some mad bastard on a different continent who has willingly consigned themselves, and their mental health, to a lifetime of heartbreak and bittersweet moments.

£25 m in cash, upfront, a massive dose of salt with that one.

You think we hired Mitchell to find overpriced EPL players? Or that hiring him should make Levy less concerned about over paying ?

I completely agree with your stance on football tourists, I got caned on here a year or so ago for saying I'd rather sit behind some football tourists than some of the ignorant whining wankers from Cheshunt that I end up listening too on the train home.

But isn't the problem with using Wembley the FA, not Levy ? Aren't there limits on games held there that we need to circumnavigate ?

on ignorance, case by case basis.

think most of the info to date suggests we can hire wembley if the top tier is closed and thereby attendance capped at 50k. no annual limit on such lower attendance events that chelsea story suggested they would outbid us, levy said when releasing our spin for the new whl design that he hoped the fa would see sense and sanction a sharing deal. of course he couldnt get into an auction. reporting said wedcpay 8m for our season but chels would bid 11. given theyre at an early stage we are likely to get there first, but i do worry dl will try to carry off mk if he can get away with it...

That's a lie. It was 5m up front, and we upped it to 6m on the last day
Even the OS statement talks about it
“Firstly, there is hardly a transfer concluded across Europe which doesn’t include staged payments. This is particularly so when significant amounts such as £20m-£30m are involved - players don’t come cheaply these days.
