United have one recognised striker in Rooney, a youth player in Wilson, and a guy who has predominately played on the wing in Martial.

Tbh I don't watch too much of Monaco, I watched their CL game against Valencia and their match v PSG and I'm sure he played up front.

Do you think we have adequate options in the CF department right now?

No, no one does. I don't think it's ideal at all, but I didn't want us to just buy some chancer for the sake of it because we couldn't get the player we wanted.

Heard a classic meathead on Talksport last night, came out with the classic line:

"Daniel Levy, I tell ya mate, dat man is destwoyin' mah club, e's kill in' it, 'e needs ta go."

Durham was actually pretty reasonable, and pointed out that Levy was building a new stadium, and that the club's league finishes in the last five years had been better and more consistent than anything since the 60's, and therefore probably wasn't 'destroying' Spurs, and that £25m was massively over the odds for Berahino, but the guy wasn't interested.

"Nah nah nah mate, I ain't 'avin' it, yeah der might be a new stadium an dat but we ain't got no bloody stwiker 'av' we? Kill in' the club mate, der ain't gona be a Spurs once e's finished wiv it. Get 'im an' ENIC aaat!"

Like the kind of guy you accidentally get chatting to in the pub then find an excuse to go home early.

Shite transfer window. He's not burning the fucking club to the ground though.

You really can't argue with stupid.

Good for a laugh though

Njie scored more goals in France with less minutes played than martial.

The problem is Levy will never change. He is the type of bloke to buy a brand new rolls royce and walk away high fiving his Mrs because he managed to negotiate some free car mats.

I saw last night that WBA are saying he offered £5m up front the rest staggered over the term of his five year contract (will try and find the link again)...... for their prime asset valued at somewhere between £23 and £25m thats just insulting.

A staggered payment isn't insulting or unusual at all.

If we're talking about add-ons then that's a different issue, and I could understand the issue.

But I imagine 90% of transfers are done through staggered payments.

We were left standing on the platform under Sugar when the Premier League express took off
I believe we are at similar situation with the new TV deal next year, which will be a game changer for a lot of clubs.
Adding value to Enic's investment with minimal risk is Levy's vision.
Pity he doesn't adopt the clubs motto.

i dont disagree but only £5m down for the biggest asset that WBA have probably ever had, in a hugely inflated market gives them very limited room for maneuver when trying to find an adequate replacement unless you are expecting another club to accept similar low ball terms on the last day of the window. I am sure there were a whole stack of add on as well.

Well now you're just casting around for reasons to be cranky about Levy.

When we spent all of the Bale money, precisely how much of it did we have from Real at that point? I'll give you a clue....it's less than £1.

The fact is that you have no idea how the deal was structured, but are choosing to assume it was a fuck-up from Levy because it fits your pre-written agenda.

Why don't you focus on the defensive midfield issue, where we do genuinely appear to have messed up...at least then it'll make more sense.

If Berahino is the striker you want, with no plan B as a back up.

If you've only got one main striker in your squad who's under a lot of pressure.

If the WBA Chairman has explicitly told you he won't do a deadline deal.

If you haven't yet won a game in the league...

If all these things...why is Levy under bidding on deadline day?

Just stupid

As I said I don't think it was under bidding. We've seen info that suggests we were never given a value to reach, so he wasn't deliberately going under what they set us as you seem to be saying.

If we were playing silly buggers with add-ons and conditional payments then yes that was dumb considering the importance of the player (apparently). But if it was just staggered payments then that really isn't abnormal, and if Peace was expecting 25m upfront then he was always living in a dreamland.

Sterling sold for 49m...Berahino £25m in the current market??....I would say that is about right.

We need to realise with more and more money coming into the game transfer fees are going to get higher and higher. I always remember when Chris Sutton went to Blackburn for £5m and I thought that was madness...

This transfer window was going well but to leave us with one recognised striker puts it up there with the losing Berbatov one
