Dier is well aware he won’t be in the team this year if he stays. From his perspective, would rather not play this year and pick his club as a free transfer opposed to moving and locking himself in at a club like Bournemouth. How are you proposing to be ruthless?
Agree but as a free transfer and 30 yo not sure he is going to have a long list of clubs...Hes not exactly in demand

Why is it always a scramble for us? Just once I would like a nice boring transfer window. I have too much work on, and this sideshow takes up too much time. I'll have to go down to PT just to keep up at this rate.

I think it was more about offering Bournemouth a replacement for Kelly so they're not short on options.
We’re touting Dier to all and sundry by the sounds of it - but if he’s looking to see out his contract for a big payday next season, we’ll have to loan him - he can continue to play and get paid.

Christ on a bike, The bloke has been a great servant to the club and yes he may be on the wane now but the disrespect being thrown at Dier is shocking in my opinion. He may not play but he is a solid and intelligent bloke who I think would offer more being around than just tossed out if he cant find a move to suit him. State of some of the comments on here making me want to go all Will Smith and give it the take Eric Diers name out of yo mouths!!!

He obviously thinks he's going to get a fudge loads of offers as a free agent.

But I think he's living in cloud cuckoo land and will struggle to get anything better than us so let's just get rid of him now and let him worry about it.

No hard feelings on the guy but equally no room for sentiment when his inclusion is going to be detrimental to what Ange is trying to achieve.

I don't think it's disrespectful at all. Yeah he might be a nice bloke, and yeah he's done OK for us. But it's clear he wants to hold out to become a free agent and as a result it's hampering our recruitment.

I don't see any other club keeping players they don't want or need around just for sentimental reasons or because they're a good person.

Might as well just terminate his contract. If he's holding up transfers then pay him off now. It's blatantly clear he's not in our plans and he wants to be a free agent so just take the hit and do it now.

Otherwise we'll end up paying him anyway for the next 12 months and not playing him.
If the cost is the same as keeping him, I would let him sit in the stands for the season. Why give him what he wants?
