You'd think that there would be enough money left to terminate at least a couple of contracts. I understand the point about it setting a bad example but surely they can make an exception with Ndombele and just pay him off?
He might still go yet.

I'm not too critical of the way Hugo and Dier have behaved because, they've seen examples of our club taking this approach with Aurier and Doherty. They're aware the club doesn't want to register them and they increase their options by being freely available with a team not having to negotiate with Levy.

The real aspect though of why I'm not critical though is because of how we treated Harry on his way out, blocking him from the training ground. The club showed that it's willing to treat it's players ruthlessly when it wants them gone to yield the best deal for them, Crouch has spoke of the same. So I don't see much wrong with players getting the best deal for themselves and showing the same in the reverse.

I reckon the reason people are likely annoyed is the idea that this stopped us from doing business, no it didn't. The club may have chosen not to do business because of this, but nothing it didn't stop them from doing it. It was within the clubs power to pick another choice. You can argue that whichever which way you like on whether they should or shouldn't have, but it's irrefutable that the club could have chosen to sign players regardless.

Lloris, Dier, Sanchez, Hojbjerg, Ndombele are hardly bad players to have around.
We were never going to solve everything this one window. We have no Europe and we’ve managed to bring in some decent players.

people have been saying You can't do it all in one window for so many windows. That's not going to fly anymore

No one could have foreseen the rapid drop off in Hugo, and likewise not sure many thought Ndombele on a 6 year deal when we signed him was anything other than good business. Dier is a little more complicated.
But the club SHOULD have known this, if they’d of carried out proper due diligence - then surely we’d of been able to find out what a lazy waste of space he is.

Who's using them to justify lack of signings? I'm certainly not, and I don't think the club are either. Sure their permanent deals go down on this year, but that's not why we haven't signed more players, and it'd be silly to think that.
I've seen plenty of people saying we've spent enough this year because of our net spend...which includes Porro and Deki.

I agree it's not why we've not signed more players. But it is definitely being used as an excuse why we haven't.

Sanchez and Højbjerg will be in the squad, the other three won't be registered.

That’s on them.

Also to add everyone we’ve signed is young and have good character and are hungry. I get the frustration, but we have a great manager in charge. We need to be patient.

It wasn't rapid mate, he had been declining for years, We've been talking about replacing him for years, we spoke about Maignan before he went to Milan. he's 36, absolutely could be foreseen that he may drop in quality by his mid 30's.

That’s on them? What are you on about? They literally can’t be registered because we have too many players. They haven’t made any match day squad so far. It’s horrendous management that they’re still at the club.

Incomings-
Guglielmo Vicario 🇮🇹
James Maddison 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿
Micky van de Ven 🇳🇱
Manor Solomon 🇮🇱
Alejo Veliz 🇦🇷
Ashley Phillips 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿
Brennan Johnson 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿
Dejan Kulusevski 🇸🇪 (permanent)
Pedro Porro 🇪🇸 (permanent)

Outgoings-
Harry Kane 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿
Harry Winks 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿
Joe Rodon 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 (loan)
Djed Spence 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 (loan)
Sergio Reguilon 🇪🇸 (loan)
Japhet Tanganga 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 (loan)

So taking out Kulu/porro out as they was already here - I’d say only Maddison and VDV are nailed on improved our 1st 11. Vicario looks decent (if rash sometimes) Solomon was 100% a levy special and will probably not see much game time, and I just don’t think BJ starts every game?

veliz and Phillips aren’t going to be anywhere near the 1st team anytime soon?

id say 4/10 window personally.
I think Vicario definitely improves the first team. He’s been pretty important to how we’ve been playing so far. His passing and ball control are a huge improvement on Hugo, and so far his shot stopping has been good too. Lloris has checked out for the last 12 months I think. Great keeper in his time here, but he’s been over the hill the last year.

I guess if we are being level headed about it, Udogie has come into the squad too, who is defo an upgrade. Bumps it up to a 5-6/10, as LB was a big issue for me coming into the window if we were going to a back 4.

Any window where we lose Kane is going to be shit though.

Anyone got a list of all our transfer failings over the years? Ie. Examples of where Levy has fucked up/been stingy or lacking a plan? Need to explain to a mate but want a solid list
Maybe follow it up with how we finished in the league that season. Usually we do better than the reactions to the window suggested.

Ange is the only bright spot in all of that and in his own words he needed another CB and Levy’s left him short (and fuming by all accounts).
What's this? I'm still trying to catch up on all the threads but please don't tell me that Levy has pissed Ange off already?!!

3/10 for players due to the loss of Harry. 9/10 on the coaching side. 6/10 on average only because of the coach. While the growing pains are still to come, we appear to be on an upward trajectory. Suspect 5th-6th will be our upside this season unless January is kind to us, Romero's newfound responsibility leads to fewer cards and VDV/Dav/Romero can stay healthy.

Ange is at the helm, he improves players and hopefully he isn't fuming. Donation made. Onwards and upwards.

Regardless Poch wanted him and thought he could be the man to make him tick.
