Absolutely no chance Ndombele gets back in.

Dier should have no route back in but if 2 CBs get injured we have no choice.

Think we should just rip the contract up for be honest. He's totally incompatible with our current system so may as well give any minutes to players to players that have a future with us.

I think it is fucking insane that we haven't signed another CB, especially when Ange said in a press conference to the entire world that he wanted another one. We should have signed a second CB ages ago, and invested significantly in that position. Shit like this will happen year after year under this ownership. ENIC Out.

But you know what....

I'm not going to have a full on meltdown. I am extremely excited about our potential under Ange, and we do have a solid bunch of very exciting players.

So whilst it would be tempting to go apeshit in here, fuck that.

I've had enough of the toxic feelings that I (and many others) have had towards the team/club recently. I'm just going to look forward to seeing what we could do with this team, with very little expectations.
Great post... and thanks for all your work over the transfer window. You've been a fucking beast.

Bit of a wet fart ending. One can only hope one of the Saudi teams comes in for Tanguy and/or Lloris over the next week. Cannot believe the former is still languishing around. I mean, I can… in the sense that no one wants him and his wages. Or no one that he deems worthy of his standing. What a waste.

Thankfully a lot of our deadwood are on the last year of their contract. Still, if it is true that Danny was up to his tomfoolery and moreover, has let down big Ange, that’s a kick in the knackers. What a chuffing nonce.

Just to clarify this point, if Ange has specifically requested a backup CB as a priority (as seems to be the case), and Levy has promised him one and failed to get it over the line, that’s clearly a big failing on the club’s part. I’m not denying that.

I just don’t think the overall situation is as catastrophic as some people are suggesting, especially given what a mess we were in at the end of last season.

I think the rebuild has gone well so far. For me the main issue is that we haven't been able to use the sale of Kane as a catalyst to speed up that process, be that taking ins on outgoings as well as spending on incomings.

Interesting points will be if Gill is in or Ndombele to see if he has a final final chance. Assuming Dier and Hugo won’t be and may even be released before it’s announced

Ndombele is done. Watching Bissouma, Sarr and Maddison running around putting a serious shift in the games so far, there is no way Ange is going to turn to Ndombele because his half arsed running would compromise his whole system. If he stays, bench option and thrown on late if chasing a game is the most he could hope for but I'm guessing a move to Turkey may still happen seeing as their window is open for a few weeks. Saudi if we are lucky.

I know it has been mentioned that he is young. Think we are going to have promote Phillips early if we lose a vdv or romero to injury or rest. Dier or sanchez can't be used I our high defence line

Like it or not Sanchez will be the one to come in if there's an injury. As we've already seen this season.

So where is the Kane money
That's like asking where was the Bale money during the aftermath of it having been spaffed up a wall. We sold him after signing the "magnificent seven" and finished the window with a net profit. At least this time we're finishing the window with a net spend (circa £120m, or £60 if you accrue the Porro & Kulu fees in earlier windows...but that's not what our accounts show, and the accounts are what constrains our spending).

I think what you're really asking is "where's the net spend that a club of our financial stature should be coughing up?", rather than "where's the Kane money?".

I would have liked to have seen a bit more ambition in the transfer market - in the form of another signing in the £50m ballpark.
I suspect that Levy would have signed off an another £50m net spend too, if we had managed to offload 2-3 more of the surplus players who we're now going to continue pay to rot in the reserves. Wages are as much of a factor as transfer fees.

so where are the other teams getting the money to spend then? There is huge tv deal and we just sold Kane.
Arsenal spent enormous sums with no Europe and no 100m sale.
The teams who outspent us aren't carrying the stadium debt that we are.

Arsenal's net spend is actually only circa £20-25m higher than ours this summer, despite them having secured CL football and us having not even qualified for the ECL.
When Arsenal was in our position, they were much tighter with their purse strings than they are now, and they weren't doing anything deserving of praise (declined from competing for league titles to nine years without a trophy and then later failing to qualify for the CL for six consecutive seasons).

Bayern spent big on Kane, but made a net profit this summer. They also had issues with selling players - seven players loaned out this summer.

The mighty Barca has mostly had to make do with free transfers and loans. Their only transfer fee paid out this summer was €3.4m and they've made a net profit of over €100m.

We're also told how levy is a commercial genius and how much money the stadium makes so I don't see how it's not possible.
Everyone knows Levy is prudent with the club's finances. This approach has been consistent for his 23-year tenure and has been massively successful commercially (just not in terms of the trophy cabinet). The "big" clubs have been outspending us for that entire time. Why would Levy now start to splash the cash to chase trophies? It's not who he is and it certainly wouldn't be "commercial genius". I get the frustration with this, but expecting this to suddenly change under this ownership is a pipedream.

Been at another gig tonight so missed the end of the window but just to clarify we…

8th of August - Buy Alejo Veliz (who could well be banged up in jail for trying to illegally import maté tea for all we know) - for around £13-15 mil
.
.
.
11th of August - Sell Harry Kane (probably the best striker in the world and a club legend) - for £100 - £140 mil.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
1st of September - buy Brennan Johnson (a promising but still very raw HG 22 year old who is going to need time and patience) - for £47 ish mil

Okay cool.

Dier or sanchez can't be used I our high defence line
Think Sanchez will be the one coming in. He is always going to have a clanger in him and although defensively he is more suited to a high line, I get nervous when he is in possession of the ball higher up due to him being so uncomfortable on it.

Dier would be an utter calamity and make Ange completely right completely freezing him out. He has no use in this system and is another one who would compromise the whole system if plays. If I am a forward facing Dier in a high line, I'd be rubbing my hands at the thought of being up against him and you don't even have to be that quick. Would be turned and eating dust most of the time and at high risk of being sent off.

So in summary.... (per transfermarkt)

Johnson - 55m€
Maddison - 43.6m€
VDV - 40m€
Porro - 40m€
Kulu - 30m€
Vicario - 20m€
Veliz - 15m€
Phillips - 2.3m€
Solomon - free
Arrivals : 248.6m€ (188.6m€ if you dont want to include Kulu & Porro)

Kane - 100m€
Winks - 11.6m€
Spence - 1.1m€ (loan fee)
Departures : 112.7m€

Netspend : approx 136m€ (or 86m€ without Kulu/Porro)

Pros : All incoming players fits the system & style of Ange's style of football
Cons: Except for Winks, did not sell 1 deadwood. Not even contract ripped up. Absolute failure on selling side. Numbers made up the one player most fans didnt want sold.

Overall - Really needed that new CB. But happy otherwise with squad revamp thats been done

Now that I have my Makers Mark in hand, the first conclusion is the failure to bring in a cb could be in the category of unforgivable. I hate when people use that word because it is so overused by the hyperbolic crowd. but we finally appeared to turned the Kane corner. 4 needs. AM, 2 CB, and a G with CB being the most important. we are 1 step away from makeshift tactics or lineups. thank heaven for Ange. he is adaptable.

I think from an incomings perspective this is our best window in ages. We have made our team younger and better in 3 spots (Vicario, VDV, Maddison) with potential to grow further with players that are still new in their Spurs career (Porro, Udogie, Sarr).

As others have mentioned, it’s the outgoings that have been the problem. I do agree that you can’t blame the club for players refusing to leave but at the same time, I think you need to set a president that their behaviour of dossing about and taking the money is going to be unacceptable.

Lloris as club captain for god knows how many years has been a disgrace. Downing tools last season, coming out and telling the press he needed to go in a new direction only to reject numerous clubs and still be here is outrageous.

It’s odd because we were literally one good central defender signing away from being a very good window. Instead we have 2 pointless defenders there who should’ve been sold 4 windows ago at least and we’re one injury away from struggling. Just one good CB, that’s all most people wanted.

Having said all that, it’s certainly not the worst window and our incomings look very good overall. Personally I wanted an out and out WC striker to ‘replace’ Kane and a Tapsoba type to replace Dier/Sanchez. But I do think we’ll score quite a few goals in this system anyway so I’m not completely gutted about that, I’m more gutted about the lack of CB…… We’ve had all summer. In fact we’ve had the last 3 summers. Ugh.

Anyway, until injuries ruin our season, I’m looking forward to how the season plays out. If we beat Burnley tomorrow then I’ll be extremely happy and forget about everything negative that’s happened today cos I’m fickle as fuck.

‘Mon you Lilywhites!!

Totally understand where you're coming from -especially as the last few windows have been focused on getting in players for a low block and counter philosophy.

It's definitely a depressing end to the window. Overall I'm happy with what we have done, it could have been alot better for sure, but who are we kidding, we can never expect a great window at Tottenham Hotspurs. It's just how it works unfortunately.

I for one am indifferent to it all now, I just want to see Ange do his best with this young and hungry squad and create a team and environment where we as fans can feel proud of our team. Forget the ownership as they have issues and won't be changing anytime soon unfortunately.

Love the spurs, hate the owners, can definitely separate the two. Let's just hope Ange can work miracles with this squad and unearth some gems from the U21s as well. To dare is to do after all. Let's hope some of the younger lads are ready to step up and take their chance. It's not ideal of course, but the challenge is there for them to rise to the occasion now and fill the gaps neglected by DL.

Let's support this team and just ride the wave and just enjoy the games as they come. At least we have a project we can enjoy along the way, good or bad, let it unfold as its meant to.

F**k the board, but let's just get behind Ange and the team.

Actually regarding Phillips.

Nottingham Forest have just signed Murillo from Corinthians.

It hasnt even been a year since I saw him playing for their u20s in the Paulista Championship.

He only got his first start for Corinthians back in May and he never looked back.

He will nos come to the PL.

If he can make that step up then so can Phillips IMO.

We will shortly find out surely
