The disappointment at lack of appointments

So, everyone that's reading the message board this morning must feel as bewildered as I am that Levy & co have managed to royally mess this window up. I think the reason for it is simply that we all expected a striker, it's glaringly obvious and the opta stats, live viewing, and 'rumours' through the window all suggest that a striker is of paramount importance. It didn't happen.

I think the most horrible part of it is that we have seen our rivals, teams that want the top four prem places all strengthened in those exact areas... players have been flying about everywhere... but we missed them. Suarez being the most notable. Let's be honest, if Levy stumped up 35m for Carroll we would've been upset. Today though, in retrospect, it would've at least been a statement of our intentions.

Did we need Pienaar? or Adam? not really... we have a fantastic midfield offering, and it still is in comparison to any other club. Khumalo... Harry said we're down to 2 centre backs, and he didn't even mention the guy? I'm sorry Harry, but if he's not ready, and you felt like this is an area that needed strengthening, then put some cash on the table for the likes of Cahill, Jagielka, or any other CB who has proven they can defend in the premiership. Now is not the time to make signings for the future, now is the opportunity, and it seems like now we have not taken it.

It's done, and we need to take the positives... This team got us where we are today. We are in the last 16 of the champions league, we are 3 points off the top four, and Liverpool sit 6 points behind us. We have quality in abundance. We will continue to be a fantastic footballing team, one that creates opportunities. It can be seen as 'faith' in our 3 forwards, and they may take this as the time to get the bit between their teeth and start performing as each one of them has shown glimmers that they can. Defoe is a top quality striker, now is the time to show form and take on some responsibility for being Tottenham's first choice forward.

It feels shaky at the moment, we're all nervous because we expected more.... but we're still there, we can still beat anyone, and no one looks at the fixture list and thinks 'this is going to be easy' when Spurs are concerned. we need to beat the big teams we have left to play, and make sure there are no more slip ups with teams we should be getting 3 points from. I believe we can do it, because I believe Harry will get the best out of his lot.

Let's just hope they've learned from this window, because come May it will be very difficult for all of us, and them at the club to look back on January knowing that it was now that we conceded our top four status.

COME ON YOU SPURS... GIVE BLACKBURN A HIDING!!!
