I think Rashford did enough tonight to get ahead of Sterling for the time being. In a 3-5-2 I can see him working better with Kane. Not that Rashford is better but for this system I think Rashford could be a better fit.
This would be my team atm with the 3-5-2:
Pickford
Walker Dier Stones
Trippier -------Delph--------- Rose
Alli ----- Lingard
Kane ----Rashford
There's even an argument to drop Walker and bring Maguire in on the left side of the 3.
I thought he was lively and energetic today myself. Showed skill, but did so productively which allowed him to beat a man.Disagree mate, I thought Rashford was terrible. His movement is nowhere near as intelligent as Sterling's and his choices are so often poor. I think he'll just end up getting in Kane's way, wheres Sterling is completely different and plays for the team not himself, like Rashford does.
I thought that game tonight had plenty of energy but was woefully lacking in quality. The decision making in the final third was atrocious.
I'd go:
Pickford
Walker----------Dier-----------McGuire
Trippier--------Henderson--------Delph--------Rose
Alli
Sterling------------kane
I wish he'd been even braver and taken someone like Sancho and also at least one of Wiltshire or Lallana, some more creative footballers who can do something inventive. At the moment there's only really Alli who has any kind of vision and ability to deliver it.

Sterling I am yet to be convinced by in an England shirt. I think he's better on the right myself where he plays for City, playing one-twos in and around the box and delivering final balls for tap ins. It takes him out of shooting positions as well especially with his left foot.
I'm starting to see what Southgate is actually trying to do and that's got to be a plus. There is some dynamism there which I like, but it does still lack intelligence and craft. That's why Alli is a must. As soon as he came on tonight he was productive. It's a shame Lallana is half cooked and I reckon Southgate should have had the balls to go for Foden. One more player like that would have been helpful to get us a nice balance.

The only certainty with this England side is that at some stage, John Stones will cost us a goal.
I wouldn’t start him at all. Both Dier and Maguire are better than him.
Let's not pretend Rashford is a super clinical finisher. Yes, he scored a great goal and had some exciting individual moments, but he's not the messiah. I think Sterling has had an awesome season - 20x that of Rashford - and is borderline world class. The havoc he causes opposition defences (with goals or not) is essential for this England team.
