Fair enough, I just can't see how the amazing pep has improved his game and that he's doing so much better than with us.

He might think so but I can't see the evidence. Yeah he got trophies but I don't think it's because he improved his game

It's nothing to do with winning trophies, it's about playing centre half.

“My game has developed tremendously under him,” Walker said of the Manchester City manager. “Playing in the position I am playing now for my country, the right centre-half, come two years ago could I have played it? Probably not. He has taught me so much about the game. Just managing the game, understanding the game, and knowing the players around you really.“

I had read it thanks. He says his game has developed tremendously under pep. I disagree. No big deal

Walker can still serve up his specials at any moment, but if you've watched him play this year you can clearly see the areas where Guardiola has worked on him, and he does (well, starting to do, it's a work in progress...) things now that he never demonstrated with us - He recognises space considerably better and where/when to be available for a pass and where to take up positions (both vertically and horizontally). He's getting his head up a bit more and seeing his surroundings.

That is what Guardiola invariably does. Does he suddenly coach players, for example in Walker's case, to be able to dribble past half a dozen players and then swing in perfect crosses time after time? No. He teaches tactical, decision making and movement based ideas/drills and within a framework identifying when and where to be in certain positions. Sterling is another example, he had very good success this season, but mostly due to being in the right place at the right time, rather than doing anything spectacular.

Cheers, you've seen a bit more of him than me this year then. Does that reflect badly on Poch then that he's gone there and improved dramatically?

Only if you think that a 46-year-old manager with about 10 years of experience ought already to have exceeded the accomplishments of the no. 1 football manager of the 21c., who has won trophies that we count by 10s and who created the innovative and unique tiki-taki Barcelona side that dominated international football for years.

So that's a "no" then.

He's only a year younger than pep, so the age thing isn't really relevant and yeah he's won trophies, but with the very best players available to him and an all conquering Messi. I was just thinking of the basics of game awareness etc that i thought Poch was good at instilling in players but seemingly pep can improve tremendously in just a year. I do get the point though but you don't have to be a dick about it.

I still find it amazing that our 5 England starters cost us a combined total of £15 million.
