Not from cm you haven’t, he played out wide for palace.
Midfield was an obvious weak point for England but my argument is they are the best we had available imo
Mate is a palace season ticket holder. He tells me different.

45 minutes to watch Rashford and Lingard to do nothing offensively of value.

Lingard’s passed the ball straight a Belgium player and Rashford burst into space only to follow suit and pass it to a Belgium player lol

Who said he should have switched Lingard with RLC?

His problem was that because our midfield was occupied with theirs that we were getting killed out wide as a result. Needed an extra man back to help us retain control. The problem was there 10/15 minutes before the equaliser went in. It was a subtle change from the Croatia coach, but Southgate didn't react.

He should have taken one of the two strikers off as we were getting killed out wide as a result. Should have been Delph or RLC on for Kane or Sterling. Either that or play asymmetrically with Sterling/Rashford out left to help out against Vrsaljko at least, who was the more dangerous of the two full backs.

The person I was replying to?

. The Dier has 'elite defensive positioning' myth that some on SC like to push and push will no doubt survive, but he's just getting the run around and being caught out time and time again - I gave up counting on the 10th time a man had peeled in behind him and got the ball in front of the defence, and that was before 15 mins were on the clock. No exaggeration.
I guess you can find whatever you want if you look hard enough for it and you're already holding onto a significant amount of confirmation bias, but this simply isn't true.

I counted a number of times where he was excellent on transition slowing down counter-attacks and giving time for his defence to get reset, and also a number of times where actually having astute positioning stifled Belgium's possession play as De Bruyne and even Tielemans couldn't get themselves into the pockets where they're most dangerous because Dier was there. They were forced to operate from 10 yards further back.

Calling it a myth is unmitigated nonsense and fairly conclusive evidence of a preconceived bias or looking at every game without being able to put the confirmation bias to one side.

You're looking for things to mould around a preconceived conclusion, rather than let the actual facts of what's happening inform that conclusion.

I dread to think what this World Cup will do to our season with everyone looking knackered here four weeks before the start of the season.

Think Belgium are being nice to us tbh. Sitting back and doing as little as possible confident we don't have the tools to break them down and then kill the game on the counter when the chances come. I think if they wanted to and just dominated the ball and pinned us back then they'd have finished this game off by now.
