I guess you can find whatever you want if you look hard enough for it and you're already holding onto a significant amount of confirmation bias, but this simply isn't true.

I counted a number of times where he was excellent on transition slowing down counter-attacks and giving time for his defence to get reset, and also a number of times where actually having astute positioning stifled Belgium's possession play as De Bruyne and even Tielemans couldn't get themselves into the pockets where they're most dangerous because Dier was there. They were forced to operate from 10 yards further back.

Calling it a myth is unmitigated nonsense and fairly conclusive evidence of a preconceived bias or looking at every game without being able to put the confirmation bias to one side.

Bias lectures from Dier's #1 fan. Ok.......

I think this game is just summed up really by Belgium being massively fucked off by the France game and wanting to make a point, while England are just spent mentally and don't feel like there's anything to play for.

Barely seen any enthusiastic chat or body language today. Can understand.

It’s been a strange old tournament for Kane.

He’s likely going to win the golden boot. But has he actually played particularly well at all?

He showed ruthless finishing against Tunisia and huge mental strength against Colombia, but other than that he’s played well within himself.
More amazing is that he is looking like winning the golden boot without anyone passing the ball to him in the box.

LOL

I actually allow the evidence to influence my views.

I also didn't realise that being a fan of a Spurs player was cause for derision. The more you know.

No you have preconceived notions of what you think his plus points are, and then watch the game trying to construct that narrative whatever he does. We all do it to varying extent, but to then try and lecture everyone else on it/bias as if you sat above us I found amusing.

Who he, or anyone else plays for is irrelevant and not being derided.

Ps. That move was very unlucky. Superb play.
