You want to sell Berba because he causes the press to constantly link him with moves away from Tottenham? Are you gonna want to sell, or perhaps just not bother buying, any world class players then? Because this happens when you have world class players. :duh:

He'll stay.

Can I just point out that Berbatov has not said a bad word about us.

If it were you, would you leave WHL?

If course we wouldn't, but we're fans - we love the club and would just love to be out there playing for the team we love! Berba doesn't bleed blue and white or any of those things. He's no Gary Mabbutt ;-)

i think his agent should bugger off tbh!

I am suprised Berbatov is associated with such a banker

As agents are bankers really though, it's ALL about the money so there is no point in anyof them changing agents. The player needs to be strong and make his own decisions in regards to where he wants to play. Do you really think Ronaldo's agent was happy that he decided to stay? He would have made him some SERIOUS cash!!

Perhaps you'd care to elaborate?

If you take seriously my translation of the main points of his interview, then you can see what I mean.

Danchev didn't say that in the next weeks Berbatov can become the highest paid player at Spurs. He said that by the end of the summer it will be clear as to whether he will change the club. And Berbatov reiterated this position today when he was awarded from his first club CSKA Sofia. The expression "the next 3-4 weeks" aren't Danchev's words but a journo tried to sum up his position in this way. When I heard the whole interview I saw that's false. Further, the context in which he spoke about Berbatov's wages was very instructive. Danchev was asked by a journalist a question in the sense why his client is not as high paid as a star of his calibre deserves, mentioning the names of Modric and Bent who according to the journo will be better paid. This question sounded as a reproach because it's Danchev who should care about Berbatov's salary. And Danchev responded that money are not priority, that if Berbatov had a bigger salary then it would be more difficult to make a move (to a CL club) and that he is confident that Berbatov will be very well paid no matter whether he would be at another club next season or would remain at Spurs. And then he added that there is an offer from the club that would make Berbatov probably the highest paid player at Spurs. He didn't indicate however that they are going to accept the offer. Only some weeks ago he said that they cannot accept a new contract which doesn't contain a buy out clause (acceptable for the player). I don't think there are serious reasons to suppose something essential in their positions have changed in the last weeks.

Fans like you make me sick.
For the life of me Nic, I've looked at your comment in the context of the surrounding posts and can't decide who this was aimed at?

In that immortal line - "Care to elaborate?"

I think it was aimed at the thread starter, and I think he's probably gonna agree with what I said.

Yeah, whatever. I don't see how 'he could become the highest paid player at White Hart Lane' could be mis-translated as 'he's leaving'

What is beyond doubt is that you're on the 'Berbatov to leave' list. The fact that you castigated me in another thread for, in your own words, being 'desperate for him to stay', and then advising me to 'have some pride'. The question that occurs is why you're so desperate for him to leave.

Any ideas?

You expressed your wish in the other thread Spurs to force Berbatov to stay even if he wants out which I found unacceptable. Football is a buisness in which players are partners and not slaves of the clubs and fans. To try to force a player to play for you because otherwise you would ruin his career reveas lack of self-respect IMO. Proud men do not try to force other people to work for them against their will.

If Berbatov decides to stay then great. If he decides to go then time will tell whether he was right to do it. Personally, I find Spurs under Levy and Ramos a club with a great potential.

We have him under contract, course we could force him if we don't get an offer that meets our valuation.

Levy knows how to make buisness, I have no doubts he will make what he finds good for the club.

Yeah, exactly. So why would he sell for under his valuation?!

Let's dissect your point, shall we?

You expressed your wish in the other thread Spurs to force Berbatov to stay even if he wants out which I found unacceptable.
I expressed no such thing. I asked whether it was feasible to force him to stay and complete the contract he signed and then to allow him to leave at the end of it for nothing. And should he leave on a free transfer, don't you think that maybe he'd get a lot more in terms of wages from the club that signed him. seeing as they'd be spared the expense of a transfer fee? Or is it that it's not the fact that you think forcing a player to stay is unaceptable, but rather you find forcing Berbatov to stay is unacceptable?

Oh, I'm sorry, playing for Spurs would ruin Berbatov's career, would it? Care to elaborate on that one?

Petyr said:

Oh, kindly grow up. What's more, if you want to talk about pride, how about taking into consideration the phrase 'honouring a contract'. Or is Berbatov exempt from pride and honour?

You're evading the question. Why are you pushing your view that he is leaving? And why do you pounce on any idea that expresses the possibility of his staying?

Players can play at their best if they feel happy. If Berbatov is happy to stay at Spurs, then great. If he isn't, as the interviews with his agent suggest, then I'm not sure Levy would find it a good buisness to force him to stay by wanting a transfer fee no club would pay. Psychology plays a crucial role in today's sport, especially in a team sport like football. The achievments of players significantly depend on whether they feel happy at their club. Ramos mentioned in his last interview about Berbatov, in which he admitted he cannot persuade him to change his mind, that it's very important the player to be happy. If he isn't happy, then he cannot play at his best and his actions could undermine the team's spirit especially if the player is the star of the team. Calderon said the other day that if Ronaldo wants out Man U couldn't stop him because the days of slavery are well behind us.

Contracts are between partners and not between bosses and slaves. The function of contracts is not to keep a given player at a given club as long as the contract says but to ensure that if the player wants to play for another club his current club will get what he costs at the market which would make it possible to find a good replacement. It's not a matter of proudness and ethic to honour one's contract because it does not depend on the length of the contract as to whether the player is happy at the club.

I cite only facts and interviews which reveal that some fans and ITKs here seem to evade reality and build a house of cards in regard to Berbatov's intentions and his future. This may be normal because they wish Berbatov to stay. But it's normal as well other fans who are better informed in some respects (because they are from the country of the player and the agent) to express their scepticism about all those optimistic posts.

Maybe I shouldn't do it? You think it would be better to write and translate things which do not contradict what you think? OK, I' not going to lose my time then. I won't try to correct what you say here even if it's plainly false and stems from misinterpretations.

Listen mate, don't give me this rubbish. I've been looking over your posts. Out of 108 posts, only 11 have been unrelated to Berbatov. And 6 of those 11 have been about striker replacements for Spurs. So, over 95% of your posts have been about Berbatov or strikers at Spurs. Seems like an agenda to me.
