Isn't it about time they just did away with drivers in this particular iteration of motorsport? If it can even be called that anymore

Mercedes have lodged two protests about the result of the race. If it’s the stewards looking over the protest, they’ll come to nothing.

That’s me done with F1. I think this decision will end up in CAS as I’ve already said as it’s a clear breach on regulations. I’m frankly not giving them my money anymore though. Boris would even be embarrassed by this

I think I read they're doing something to closer standardise the cars for next season? I'm sure someone on here can link an explainer.

Do we know what they are? My guess is one is the release of a few cars behind the safety car.

I was going to ask before but couldn't fully tell as it was live, did max pass lewis behind the safety car before they started? Even just a small amount. Not sure if there is a rule there or notm

They wouldn't dare rule against the current result. Imagine the clusterfuck. The only thing that will happen is Masi will be moved on and forced to resign. Which would be an indication the FIA fucked up. I think Mercedes would accept that. No one wants to be a champion via court ruling or retrospective action by the stewards.

All that long season, incidents, racing, drama, all made worthless, the title was decided on the track, right up until that last lap when outside influences intervened.

They worked so hard to make it exciting, got it to the stage where people were getting interested again and then do this. It won't but if F1's popularity declined to the point where it was free to view on Eurosport, i'd laugh my cock off. It's lost all credibility, I really don't see how people would want to continue to watch this so called 'sport'.
I'm not particularly interested in F1 but watched this final race because there was a high chance of it being exciting to watch but what I noticed from friends who have all recently got into F1 is they keep referring to this new netflix show called Drive to Survive. It seems very clear to me even as somebody with little understanding of the sport that that final decision was more focused on the drama rather than meritocracy and that the F1 is leaning that way to try and keep itself relevant. I saw others compare it to wrestling and I think the way Formula 1 is focusing on the drama, they look to be correct.

All sport has a form of storytelling but when you try and force the conflicts to create drama and engineer excitement, you take away the integrity of any sport.

Well Red Bull and Verstappen are very happy to be champions based on a dodgy call.

I think Mercedes and Hamilton would be very happy to be champions if this ridiculous decision is reversed.

Leclerc: “this is the best thing that could’ve happened for F1”

eh?

I agree with Leclerc - sadly.

This will make the start of next season much more highly anticipated.

I hate Red Bull - but lets be honest, their resurgence this year, as a proper foil, to Mercedes is what F1 has needed for a few seasons - since the Ferraris lost all of their pace.

Just about calmed down from that.
Was pretty disgraceful to just hand Verstappen the race in that way by just disregarding the rules.
You let them all through or you let none through. To barstardise the rules like that just to get a lap of "racing" when one car is on its last legs compared to one fresh of the forecourt is tantamount to match fixing

Their resurgence was about rule changes which favoured their car and completely changed the aero on the Mercedes

I watched it all and not gonna lie, I have so many stupid questions because simply, I have no fuckinf idea what went on.

No idea. It was a fun race and gutted for Lewis but no idea of the rules that apparently weren't applied etc and no idea why everyone is in uproar over max winning, and I'm someone who dislikes maxxy.

I'm sitting in ignorance

2022 will be a race to the bottom of sporting relevancy between boxing and F1.

What an absolute waste of everyone's time.
