They needed 2/3 majority and they got 64% so was very close, will not be long before the membership rules change
On the same note the Open is at Troon this year and it doesn't allow female members also, Troon and Muirfield the only 2 clubs remaining that don't

I think Troon had that lined up a while ago so presumably they are saying they can't take it away from them once granted (not sure I agree but presumably that is the logic).
As for Muirfield, wasn't this vote at the end of a 2 year consultation period? Doesn't sound like something they'll be able to overturn quickly!

I understand the sentiment but in the end it is a private members club and they are allowed to be a men only club just as Women only clubs are legal.
I, like you, have been of the opinion that it is wrong not to allow women to belong to any club that men can belong to, however as I mature(get older) I realise more and more that men should be allowed to have exclusivity as long as that right is extended to women as well.
I love the company of women, I always have, but there are times when I need some man time, it is different and important and I wonder if we need to move on from forced sexual integration.
I apologise if this ought to be part of a separate thread as I don't want to derail the golf thread, so I'll step back and await the brickbats that are bound to come my way.
