Absolutely stunning views from the 1st at Trevose in Cornwall. What a fantastic set up, championship course (handicap cert required), headland 9 hole course which has 3’s, 4’s and a 5 and a smaller short course.
Highly recommended if you are down this neck of the woods!

I've been booked in to play there 3 times and it's been cancelled by Covid each time! Determined to get to Trevose by Christmas, looks an absolute stunner.

Played the last 2 nights. Wednesday at my home course where i shot a very scrappy 94 with 5 3 putts, and last night at a course about 30 mins away where i shot by far and away my best score ever with a 82! An erratic front 9 of 46 gave no indication of a back 9 where i shot a +2 36 with consecutive birdies on 16 and 17, in fact a lost ball aside on the par 3 15th which i still only bogeyed meant it would have been 3 in a row.

I was just disappointed it was dark when i finished and i had to go home as i just wanted to play another 18…its nice to finally know what proper golf feels like!

Everyone is really struggling down here with staffing, loads of shops and restaurants all being shut over random days because of a lack of staff or them being pinged.

Totally. I'm not far away (Plymouth), it's absolutely rampant here.

I won my 1st ever comp yesterday. Played at a new course (Bowood GC, North Cornwall), shot 84, 12 over par (playing off 18 hcap). 42 points.

Went back to Bowood to defend this trophy last Sunday, this time playing off 10 (rather than 18 last year). 32 points on tough wet and windy day. Came 3rd, very happy with that.

Had our Captains Day last Sunday, after the initial qualifying weekend being rained off.

Distinctly solid yet unspectacular round, fairways, greens, couldn't hole a putt. Finished 7 over for 37 points. Missed about 4 or 5 putts for birdies and pars inside 10 feet yet putted well. 41 points won, 38 points won class prize, so ultimately frustrating. Couple of medals left for the year so hoping to continue the small improvements for them.

Just a little update on my European Tour caddying experience

I hadn’t caddied for about 35 years when I did a summer at Walton Heath. I knew it was going to be really tough but it was a once in a lifetime experience I couldn’t turn down

Deyen Lawson shot a level par 72 on the first day and another 72 on the 2nd which meant he unfortunately missed the cut by one stroke!

Standing on the 18th tee with water all the way down the left he was -2. We had to wait about 10 mins on the tee due to the two tee start so we just got unlucky with a group jumping infront of us

He actually hit a solid tee shot which was probably only 5 yards off line. Half way I thought it was over but then we all saw the splash!!
Had to drop a long way back, playing his 3rd from 288 yards uphill he found a greenside bunker. Splashed out to 12 feet and missed the putt on the left by millimetres

Most of them get onto the practice area about 1.5hrs before they tee off. 30 min stretch in the gym. Onto the putting green then the range before some chips and bunker shots…

You can really tell what a grind the tour is for the majority of the players, especially during Covid and having to be in bubbles

Back on the hamster wheel for him this week playing in the Czech Open…

After last weeks new low score the golfing gods brought me back to earth with a nasty bump yesterday...101 with 8 lost balls off the tee! Simply couldn't hit anything but a pull hook, hopefully a little time at the range today has smoothed things out a little bit but not exactly hopefully for my round on Friday evening. On the plus side my wedges and putter were pretty hot

I’ve got a fairway hybrid that I can stick 200yds down the middle with my eyes closed, many a round where I’ve dumped the driver after a couple of mis hits as it generally saves my round. Definitely worth trying if the big boy decides it doesn’t want to play ball on Friday!

Exaggerate your takeaway dude. Even if feels uncomfortable move the club away from your body and really extend those arms at the beginning of your swing.

What a fantastic experience that must be! Just to be there and involved and see it all up close, amazing. Best of luck to your guy today.
Off to the PGA on 10th September. If you've never been to a pro tournament, I fully recommend going.

They play a different game to me - another planet game.

And I play off 7 and have been playing since I was 12.

Played this afternoon. 81 which included a triple on a par 4 when I was 3 yards from the pin in 2.

"Tricky pin" position doesn't quite do it justice, but it really pissed me off, lol.

83 - 101 - 77…..what the hell is going on? Twice in a week I’ve smashed my low score with a yearly high sandwiched in the middle.

My driver still took 9 holes to warm up but the rest of my game was as equally boring as it was exhilarating. The recent swing changes I’ve been making with my coach are really starting to take effect and the time spent hitting countless chips in the back garden has made a massive difference. Just typical now that have a few busy weeks coming up where I’m going to struggle to play at all.

That is quite a swing from 101 to 77 but sounds like you’re well on the way to never shooting 100 again..

Even if you’re busy now and not able to play it’s important to just get up the range even if it’s only for 45mins or so to keep those swing thoughts etc

Played at Royal Norwich on Friday. I didn’t realise the story of how it’s set on a new ground and taken over a former club called Weston Park after the original Royal Norwich was sold off for houses or something like that.

Anyway, the club and facilities are amazing, really first class. The course is pristine but to honest not really all that barring a couple of holes. Needs a few years of maturity, I wouldn’t rush back to it.

When I have a decent round it’s always because I’ve worked my bag before going out. I imagine I’m play five or six holes on the range so start off with the driver, then take a hybrid/low iron then high iron. I only hit 20-30 but generally it means it doesn’t take until the 6th or 7th to start scoring properly.

Start off with the driver!!!

I can’t start lower than an 8 iron until the back starts to rotate with the rest of my body!!
