I've absolutely no problem whatsoever about women being members of the same golf club as me. Just as long as I'm never behind them on the course

There are a few ladies golf clubs that do not allow male members also

Lindin for example

Muirfield isn't the same as the smaller same-sex clubs (whether male or female) in that it's a bit of a national institution and represents the sport as a whole (whether they like it or not).

To keep it men only sends out a fairly horrible message about participation in the sport.

In amongst the madness of the Euros I've missed most of the US Open this week, but Lowry is leading going into the final day!!

Nice to see Shane up there at the top. It would be great to see Westwood or Garcia win a major; have always thought the US Open was their best chance as they are such great tee to green players. All three are noted quality bad weather players so let's hope one of them does it

I'd love either of those two as well, but from a national perspective it has to be Lowry for me.

280 yard par 3 on day two, wtf!!

Those greens are mental. Would be amazing if either Sergio or Lee won it considering their history on the greens over the years

Disappointed for Lowry. Didn't have a good day at all. Delighted for Johnson though. He's had a lot of bad luck or terrible collapses in a lot of majors and I thought he'd go the way of Westwood and Garcia.

The USPGA looked like a joke today.

Thanks for that.

Utter farce by the USGA trying to ruin the event. No wonder golf is on the decline as a sport.

Glad for DJ but not sure that someone who has allegedly failed three drug tests is the kind of winner needed. ALl he neds now is an Olympic gold

Farcical finish to what is normally an exciting championship. No doubt this will be talked about for a long time and when it comes around next year the USGA will need to be on their game to keep the players on side.

Johnson played incredibly well the last four or five holes to close it out though. He's had a lot of bad luck in majors so I'm not unhappy that he's the one to pip Lowry.

The Open is in a couple of weeks time as well. Great that they are so close together.

Aren't these allegedly for recreational rather than performance enhancing drugs? If the USPGA has done all it can to help him in these regards and as a result he's gone on to sort himself out and win majors it does nothing but put the sport in a good light imo.

Not sure there are many PED's around that can help a golfer to be honest. Just look at the state of Shane Lowry, who's currently looking like one of the world's best golfers (well top 10 at least)!

Who do we all fancy for the Open?

Personally going to take Zach Johnson EW, maybe Brandon Grace as well

Damn Mickelson was almost flawless today. How unlucky was that putt on that last? How did it not drop? Would have been the first ever 62 in a Major Championship.

Some of the big boys performed very well today which bodes well for the weekend. I think they were on the right side of the draw though, and anyone out and finished before 1 or 2 pm tomorrow should do well. The forecast isn't great after that. Going to be very high winds in the afternoon and evening.

Not wanting to take away a possible win from Big Phil but the advantage of the draw turned out to be ridiculous. So much luck involved there and it ruined nearly all of my bets. Still, that's links golf I guess.

(Must pay more attention to the weather forecast in the future!)

I actually studied the weather 2 days before to check which side of the draw was best, needless to say it didn't work out. And I didn't even back Zach Johnson in the end. Guess whose tied 11th at the moment....

This is incredible golf today, I like Stenson but have £20 EW on Mickelson at 40/1 so will pocket a grand if he wins

Amazing final day. As a pair they shot 59 between them, on a Sunday at the Open Championship.

Mickelson shooting 65 and not winning is almost as insane as Stenson shooting 63 on the final day of a major. Incredible golf.

Delighted for Stenson, he's long over due.

PGA Championship isn't far away now. Starts on the 28th in Baltusrol which I think is a course where McIlroy will do very well. He looked good again yesterday so I'll stick a bit on him.
