instead of looking it as writing Emerson off, look it as upgrading our fullback core of Aurier/Doherty to Emerson and potentially Adama
the two wing backs cover more ground then any other player in this system, we can’t play the Emerson and Reguilon every game. Adama and sessegnon are not back ups, they would be used in Rotation

Well, you will if we sign him!

How about just giving Emerson a chance rather than everyone writing him off after 4 months with us. A young player in a new country who isn’t comfortable with the language yet has already showed promise. I think I’ll give him a bit more time ?

We need options though. The game vs Saints showed we could have done with more options as wing backs. In the end we played Doherty left and Gil right. Surely thats not the answer. Bringing on Adama when we need to break down a low block could really work in my opinion. Sess/Reg and Adama/Royal with Japhet as emergency cover looks good to me.

I dont understand how people cannot see what Conte did with Victor Moses and not think that he could turn AT into an even better version of that. No, he is not a great finisher, but thats not his responsibility in this system. This guy would create so much disruption on the flank that the middle of the pitch would be wide open.

IMO, Lamptey would be perfect for us.
He would yes, but he’s young, talented and English plus the fact Brighton don’t need to sell, he would cost insane money. They would only sell for a huge offer. Maybe we could offer Doherty as make weight but I doubt it would happen.
bissouma and lamptey are two players perfect for us

As Trix alluded to in his last post, I’m not entirely sure why there needs to be so much argument over the relative merits and demerits of Traore. If Conte deems him an ideal fit for what he wants to attempt, then just get it done. I’d sooner have him than not.

Feels like some posters like to get the opinions in so they can say “told you so” if we were to sign him and he has a bad game.

Like, I’m pretty sure professional football scouts and managers who do this for a living will be more than aware of what Traore can and can’t do.

I think he’d cause absolute havoc.

Traore is one of the most press resistant players in the league. Forget the second half against Southampton when we didn’t create enough 100% chances after the disallowed goal, the real Tottenham this season and the last few is a real struggle to move the ball through the pitch, who get pressed into passing sideways and backwards by any team. Defenders not comfortable on the ball, midfielders who can’t play on the half turn and drive into space. If the front three and Lucas in particular don’t drop deep in midfield and take players out of the game we’d be solely relying on percentage balls from deep imo.

Personally I’d rather look at attributes than stats for a different team. We could sign a specialised WB with great numbers but put him into this team and theres no guarantee they would be able to reproduce that.

Traore has actually got decent feet and his passing is good enough as he can create the space for himself to play forward, you rarely see him play hospital balls deep and pass responsibility on, those players are the liabilities imo and we have enough of them that hide. He can turn the opposition around consistently, create overloads consistently. His shooting is very poor but I do think he would get us creating more chances even if he’s not always going to have his name on the assist stat.

Cue him going to Liverpool.
You Sir, know your football.

agree. At rwb he could be absolutely devastating. Teams would have to double up on him and the space he’d automatically create is something we don’t currently have

Sometimes I abuse you lot because it's expected of me, it's not like I really mean it and when I do, it hurts. Very briefly.

Here you all are, discussing the merits of Traore when all the time, there's this.........
And it's not like it's a new thing is it, so you'll forgive me if I compare what's inside your heads to the contents of a bisons nutsack after he's serviced twenty ladybisons and then cracked one off to a picture of Levy with hair, whilst humming Macnamara's band.

I reckon i've flicked bogies with more going on than whatever it is that resides in your noggins that instructs you to take consecutive breaths.

If you like, i'll start reserving them to sell on to you so you can improve yourselves. I reckon if you install a couple of my bogies, some of you might show enough improvement that they could possibly start letting you handle a knife and fork, or even teach you to tie your laces. No guarantees of course, because I reckon a lot of you are too far gone. Anyway, let me know, a fiver a bogie. Save your pocket money.

Lol, smokescreen for what reason? Wtf would anyone at the club benefit from saying we were interested in Adama Traore if they really weren't?

Some of you lot do make me chuckle with how you think there's all this smoke a mirrors stuff going on behind the scenes. It really doesn't happen ever.
By Smokescreen I was referring to previous posters who had knowledge on Paratici’s methods of keeping many irons in the fire. As I am not a fan of Traore I am hoping he is not a top priority for rwb. However, if he is the Man Conte wants I will back him and hope it works out.

I’m not saying who would start or how much playing time they would get. Just that those two are much better than aurier and Doherty.

Not in reference to Traore, but in reference to Traore :cautious:;). Do we buy players that we haven't looked at, and expressed an interest in, for ages. An exaggeration I know, but you get the idea. Where do Patraci (spelling) and Conte come into this equation?

A&C you really do have a way with words. This cracked me up and you do it too often for it to be mere chance! Therefore, it must be literary genius ............ although it has been said that there is a fine line between madness and genius. Hhmmmmm, I'll go with the latter for now! :cautious: :ROFLMAO:

I really like Emerson and think he's been very good since he joined. Expecting more from him too.

However, against Southampton and in other games he doesn't have that burst or trickery to get past the full back in a 1v1 in order to get to the byline and round the back of the defence.

Traore will be able to do this but not only that, he'll draw another defender out to him, meaning more space for the other attackers.

His crossing can be erratic when he goes for power but he actually is good at hanging crosses in the air and cut backs so I would expect us to be more deadly with him.

Slightly concerning that only just over 4 weeks from the closing of the transfer window we have nothing more than possible links, I’d have expected a few more solid links, but maybe being overly optimistic as I still believe. ???

It opens in two days and closes in 34 days, I’ve said I’m still optimistic but would have expected more solid links as ITK have suggested up to three big transfers.
It was just an observation/comment mate, not a slagging off of the club in anyway, sorry. ???
