Lingard we want but two issues are whether United will treat with a top 4 competitor and lingards camp are pushing for a free in the summer with 200k a week wages

kessie we want this window he is at ANc now so messy

we are in for two champ players and one Scottish prem all youngsters , hitchen has a separate project going on running alongside what fab and conte are doing for more established stars ,

the boArd are adamant that there will be players in this window
Glad to see we're looking to the Scottish Prem for players, been some great young defenders coming up there recently (Kieran Tierney obviously, Nathan Patterson and Aaron Hickey to name the big ones) and there are a few more in the pipeline in Josh Doig and Calvin Ramsay that look like future stars.

We'd be the biggest fish shopping in that market too atm so could get some proper talents out of it.

Lingard had a very good short loan spell at West Ham but over the last few years he’s done nothing apart from that.

He’s nowhere near proven enough consistently to justify such a big contract. That said, we would be saving on transfer fees. If Conte really wants him then fine, personally swapping him for Alli is just too much like for like in playing style. Although Lingard is the better player.
He's been good for England tbf- I was surprised he didn't make the squad last year, and the West Ham gig showed he could still do it, whereas Dele hasn't. But yeah, bigger wages than others that are more deserving.

The feeling within Spurs was that Conte's squad was in need of a new striker, right wing-back and a left-sided centre-back.

The Italian is understood to have agreed with that assessment but also wants a new central midfielder to add to his options.

Following Monday's meeting, the new midfielder, striker and wing-back are expected to the priority this month, with the new left-sided centre-back to provide competition for Ben Davies left until the summer unless an unexpected opportunity arises.

Defender Joe Rodon was set to leave this window either on loan or permanently, but as of yet the club is still to receive interest from a Premier League club for his services.
The pressure is now on Paratici with just 20 days remaining of the window to sign players who improve the squad in the three key positions in order to keep Conte happy about the level of backing he will get from his new club.

The new head coach is not expecting huge sums to be spent and knows the difficulties of the January window. He has already stated publicly that it will take more than one transfer window to fix the problems at the club.

All the former Premier League and Serie A winner is asking from this month's dealings is that the squad is improved, particularly if the north London club has the ambition to battle for a top four spot this season.

The players Conte deemed surplus to requirements have been touted to clubs and their agents involved, which could free up further funds towards those incoming signings, with Wolves winger Adama Traore earmarked as a potential converted wing-back among other candidates.

I agree, i like the sound of Lingard but not at £200k a week. And i don't know why we would have waited for the Kessie situation to get to a 'messy' place before sorting this stuff out in preparation.

Who could have predicted the Ivorian would be tied up over January with the Afcon?

The Kessie link seemed the strongest but is at odds with what we're told are the priority positions so I don't really know what to make of it- one for the summer maybe?

This bit interests me. We have to keep unearthing those cheap, young gems like we’ve been doing in the past, as well as the top tier quality stuff Conte and Fabio want as well. Glad to hear this.

It begs the question: Where does our Head Of Emerging Talent, Chris Perkins, fit in the org chart? Does Perky report to Hitch? Who reports to who in this endless revolving door of Transfer Committee Members?

Ali Gold is right that the CB being a priority has now switched to CM. From what I've just been told Conte thought he had more cover at CM than he actually now feels he has, which is why CB was seen as a higher priority. Still 3 in though so they tell me.?

Oh also told that unless it's an above our valuation offer, Big Dav is not likely to go now and is not being pushed for a sale like he was.

Makes sense as though after the Liverpool game he probably thought he could still use Ndombele & Dele... not the case anymore.

After the tripe turned out at the weekend id imagine he wants to never see that again.

re Cm, do we know if we are talking about a playmaker, an enforcer or an all rounder?

Happy about us switching to get a CM rather than CB, we’re thin on both but we can scrape by with the defenders we have, apart from skipp our options are not great to say the least at CM

I would guess all-round player. If we play 2 in CM and expecting fill backs and the 2 off Kane (and Kane) to create, then a defensive player but one who can also play a pass and pop up around the edge of the box when attacking.
