I don't see many Euro-games beyond the EPL. Looking forward to the WC to 'scout' a few players that have been linked to Spurs. And maybe I can see Papa Sarr play ! A few I'll try to watch :
CB De Vrij / Netherlands
CB Nikola Milenkovic / Serbia
WB? Yannick Carrasco / Belgium
MF Weston McKennie / USA
MF Manuel Ugarte / Uruguay

And costs like 80 mil. If we were going to spend 80 mil on a player I’d rather it be on one who can play in a position we really need as realistically if we got him he would replace Bentancur.
I don't think the big stumbling block is the price. I think better clubs will put up the money for him.

That is also true, but when looking at what we need - RWB, 2 CB, RWF and eventually a LWF I don’t see us spending that sort of fee on any one player. Especially one in a position we don’t really need.

You're probably right. We're currently weak in several areas so will need to spread out our costs a bit.

There's not a huge amount of coverage of Sassuolo on BT which is a shame as they play some great football. I watched them draw with Roma not too long ago. Frattesi played well, he is a forward-minded, aggressive, box to box player- think Bentancur but gets forward a little more. I'd say he's the best player at Sassuolo. He is really well thought of in Italy and seen as part of the new look Italy national side, he'll get a big move somewhere soon.

Here's some good analysis of his game.

I think Herkules doesn't mean Frattesi for a number of reasons. He is not very well known outside of Italy, will cost a lot because Sassuolo sells expensive ~30+ million (Roma has 30% of the transfer) and has no international experience.

Most importantly, Frattesi himself wants to return to Roma.

Speaking to Corriere dello Sport, Frattesi confirmed that he is looking to return to the capital club in the near future, saying:
“Following the disappointment of the summer, I will return to Roma, because it would be coming full circle for me.”

Frattesi is a Roma supporter and came through their youth academy, but joined the Neroverdi in 2017 for €5m plus a 30 per cent cut of any future sell-on fee.

Roma were expected to get the 30 per cent discount last summer but the two clubs failed to agree terms, despite coming very close to arranging a move.

smart and brilliant transfer sounds like a player with a given name in world football. 23 years old... I think maybe it's someone like Szoboszlai:)

He’s only just turned 22.

Yes, but in the January or June transfer window he will be 23 years old. This is a question for Hercules to specify whether we are talking about a player born in 99 or it can also be a player from 00:p

From the '99 there is little choice that could be considered for Tottenham. Felix, Zaniolo (it's unlikely to be a secret) Fofana from Monaco (1 year contract)

No, he won’t be 23 until oct 2023. So neither of the next two windows.

I still think that we'll be looking at a decent amount of players nearing the end of their contracts in the January window. I've also seen a decent amount of posts referencing how historically, players with 6 months remaining on their contracts, rarely leave in January. I fully understand that sentiment but also understand that this will be a very unique January window, thanks to the WC. Some teams will be looking to consolidate their status in their respective leagues, others looking to challenge or stay close to the top and many looking for squad depth as injuries mount and take their toll. When you consider all that, I can only see a busier than usual January market.

Just realised Gakpo is 23. Although personally I think he’s overrated.
Didn’t Herc say 23 yo midfielder though? Feels like people are bending that post every which way to throw out so many random names at this point ?‍♂️ Would be good to get clarification really on at least which position he meant exactly because there have been way too many guesses based on fuck all. Sorry if this comes across as me having a go at you specifically, I’m not, you contribute really well in these types of threads generally, but this guessing shit happens way too often and it’s tedious

He definitely said midfielder.
And a midfielder whose name i cannot share here. 23 year old. Would be a smart, yet brilliant signing, if we were successful.

I only mentioned him as he’s someone we have been linked to in the past, even last summer, and he’s currently playing at the WC. You’re right that guessing is never going to have an end and it can certainly get out of hand. And yes, there is obviously going to be confusion as who counts as a forward and who a midfielder. But seeing as it’s the scouting thread and the window hasn’t opened yet and ITK is thin on the ground I don’t see it being too big an issue as at least it means we can discuss the suggested players suitability for us. Added to that with the WC on it allows us to watch players some maybe haven’t seen before. But yes it can get out of hand quickly and result in unrealistic names being mentioned for the sake of it.
