Now I'm no statto and I don't intend to go chasing them either.

But on the face of it, Keano must be the most subbed player of the last couple of seasons.

It got me wondering if perhaps there is some evidence that beyond sixty minutes his contribution diminishes or his mileage shortens.

Either that or he just likes to shower by himself.

Hes the most subbed because he is belived to not be able to create magic I think. But hes great as a sub because of his energy!??

If you want to change the system and play one up top, he's gonna be the one who gets replaced. If you want to change the strikers, you take him off as Berbatov is better.

Not strictly on topic, but I recall that during his first season Jol regularly subbed both strikers, and that it got us a lot of goals, as tired defenders struggled to cope with a whole new set of problems.

If you're going to play one up top, Bent is arguably the best choice of our three. It depends what you mean by 'better'. If you're talking about getting shots on target and converting them, then it's Keane, followed by Bent.

If we're talking about goals contributed, as in goals and assists, then it's Berbatov isn't it?

Bent with one up top is the best choice cause Berba and Keane come inside far to much for it, and Bent is all about chasing balls, and thats who you want with only one stricker

Yes, it is, but as one up front? If he could pull out the sensational level of committed performance he did against Bolton at the Lane last season, sure, but how often does that happen?

Because he's not fit enough.

Oh, FFS, nic.

I think Ramos sums Keane up best.

Spurs head coach Juande Ramos praised Robbie Keane after the striker netted the only goal to beat Reading at The Madejski Stadium.

Keane scored in the 16th minute as a rampant Spurs side dominated the first-half against the sorry Royals, who dropped into the relegation zone after this defeat.

Steed Malbranque also had a goal wrongly adjudged offside in the first period

before Reading were much better after the break, although Darren Bent hit the post.

Keane took his tally to 23 for the season with his winner, leaving him level with Dimitar Berbatov, who was absent with a groin strain.

Magnificent player

Praising his goal-scorer, Ramos said: "He is a magnificent player and we rely on him a lot.

"His performance today was tremendous.

"He got the goal and was in a position that made it difficult for Reading.

"We played a good game, there were a lot of chances and we dominated play and should have finished the game off."

Oh, FFS, nic.

I was referring to Berbatov staying on, if you wanted to change the strkeforce but keeping two up top. Bent on for Keane.

Malbranque does often seem to flag a bit towards the end of games?

I'm not sure it really answers the question of the substitutions though? I'd agree with what he says though. He can be a handful, can be in good positions, and definitely is relied on a lot, possibly too much.

It had absolutely nothing to do with the sub but I just wanted to post the article and didn't think it deserved it's own thread.

One thing I will say about Keane being subbed is that we have conceed goals about 80% of the time after Keane is subbed. Maybe coincidence maybe not.

I think Steeeeeeed has played loads with no breaks through out all the season, and the fact he works his socks off each game. I think he has a right to be tired after 70mins. Nothing to do with fitness

Oh dear, I wasn't slating Steed at all, he's been a revelation this season. I do however think he tends to drop off in the last quarter of games occasionally.

Sorry, nic, but this seems to be your customary Keane-bashing disguised as, 'Well, I think he's OK, basically, but I so wish we'd got shot of him and kept JD.'

To me that was Robbie Keanes best performance of the season. He is not my favourite player here and often I wonder at the blind adulation of some on SC. However today he was great. He was involved. Dropped to receive the ball and brought the midfield, especially Steed into the game. His distribution was sharp and passing crisp. Reading rarely got within 5 yards of him. I know he was voted the Player of the season on here but this performance stands out.
Why do we regularly sub him? Because he cannot do it for the whole game, he lacks the stamina needed. That is not a criticism but a reality and after all, today, the bare 11 players will win you nothing. It is a squad game.
