I thought he composed himself at half time and had the measure of Antonio in the 2nd half, and as the game wore on we saw evidence of his quality on the ball. Definitely worth persevering with

Antonio is capable of giving most full backs a hard time when he's in the mood tbh...although ignore that when we're talking about Tripps playing against him obviously.

Not a great game for him, but a great experience and something to learn going forward

Hi 'muricans! That means that Antonio is a decent player in case you don't understand the lingo, which means KWP getting beaten by him doesn't say too much. He is strong and skillful and can be a right pain in the arse for most defenders.

He isn't ready though, whatever you think...you're wrong.

Spam rating when it's about the match and who he was up against though? I'd say don't be a tool, but it's a bit late for that.

Trippier was our worst player v West Ham in the league and got worse in the last 20 mins, at least KWP improved as the game went on.

Also, let's not forget KWP hasn't played for a while, is still learning his trade, only played a handful of senior games and is 21, so chances are he will learn from the experience, where as Trippier is 28, so should have learnt already.

He really can't win. If he has a poor game, fans will use that as justification for why he doesn't get minutes. If he does have a good game, he simply won't play again

No he fucking wasn't, Harry was...but sure fire away there. You've been beating the KWP/Youth drum with all the rest of this lot.

Harry was poor both Davies & Trippier were worse though.

Only youth player I want to be given a few starts to see what he can do is KWP, other than that, it would be good to see Skipp and maybe Roles get a few cameos from the bench, but I dont think anyone else is ready/good enough.

In the Premier League?! Wise the fuck up mate.

Not ready.

I love Harry, he was diabolical against West Ham...worst player on the pitch for us easily that game.

Aurier played on the left today

Well fuck me with a fiddle stick! *rates own previous post as d’oh*.

Was going by line up posted as had to help out at a Halloween party most of the evening so out of the loop!

I’d still persevere with him though, Carr was shaky as fuck when he first came in and just needed the game time.

It’s not exactly like Trippier is pulling up any trees at mo either...

Yes, in the premier league, where he only has 2 starts but got MOTM in both games.

Regardless of whether or not Harry was worse (I don't think he was) Trippier was also shit and got shown up by the same player that gave KWP a very hard time.

Yeah I did the same thing in the match thread. The official Twitter had kwp at LB and aurier at RB and I didn't check the feed until after my post. Look like a right idiot now. Anyway, good learning experience for him. Needs to get some carbs into him to bulk up a bit. Surprised they didn't switch sides tbh, aurier would have easily held antonio.

Honestly think some people overreacting. He was fine today, pretty poor first half but better in the second. His first game since May for us against a fast and strong Antonio of course he was struggling a little bit
But his defensive positioning and defending 1V1 is so much better than Trippier
Poch needs to give him consistent game time, can’t just rule him out after one game

I agree second half much better and I'm glad he wasn't hooked. I think it's a confidence thing. Got shoulder charged a couple of times which he will have to either become stronger or more wily. Agree with the overreaction on here also. Was clear they were targeting him and he faced a strong pacy and in form opponent. He made mistakes but lots of good tonight also. With having no game time I thought he came in admirably.

Why are some folks giving up on him after just one game?

This is his first PL game this season. He has proven in the past that he is ready for the PL.
All he needs is more game time. (I hope Poch is reading this or hopefully Donna does and relays it to Poch :cautious:).

Yep, imagine if we’d just given up on Carr after he was a bit shaky in his first season...

Gotta be patient and give KWP time to get his groove, Trippier has been poor so would much rather try a player who probably has a much higher ceiling.

If Trippier and Davies put in similar performances to KWP and Serge, it's fairly likely the majority of posters in this thread would all be giving them absolute pelters.

I'm not seeing anything yet that would make me think both full backs last night are anywhere near ousting the latest whipping boys.

Either against players like Sane, Sterling, Hazard etc. would not be a good thing. Higher ceiling? I'm doubtful.

KWP STILL needs a successful loan at Championship level to develop IMO...and more protein and gym time.
