The incident happened at a World Cup, which falls under FIFA jurisdiction.

The ban is against the PLAYER, not the CLUB.

If they issue a ban just for certain games, how do they justify him biting for a FOURTH time during his international-only ban. They are the world authority for football and they have the power to stop him biting ANYONE again, at ANY match.

All logic clearly confirms he should be banned from playing for Liverpool.

It's Liverpool for fucksake.

They'd spontaneously evaporate into a stinking miasma of self-righteousness if they didn't have something to feel victimised about. It's a kindness to them really.

That was UEFA

Also I don't see anything wrong with the ban, he's missing 9 International games as well as 9 PL 3 CL and 1 Capital One Cup game. He's also not allowed to enter any football stadium nor is he allowed to train with Liverpool until the 26/10/15.

Seems fair to me.

Youre right it was UEFA, but FIFA are their bosses and are supposed to set standards. Secondly, The football ban should start at the beginning of the domestic season not in the middle of the holiday season!

Maybe now is the time to put in a bid of 7 shillings and a cream bagel

Has anyone considered that maybe he is teething? He could have been injected with shark DNA and has constantly growing teeth...or maybe beaver DNA? :giggle:

I would have hoped for longer...but the affect this will have on the Scousers is brilliant. TBF, some of the RAWK-ites are trying to talk sense but it is still pretty funny. They think they are always given the rough end of the stick by the footballing authorities - conveniently forgetting that they were allowed into the CL (and all of the revenues accruing) even though there was absolutely zero provision for it - and with immediate effect - with repercussions negatively affecting us even though we had done nothing wrong and had fairly earned our place in the CL, the which they found absolutely hilarious.

What strikes me from reading their comments, other than their self-pitying martyr complex, is how their arrogant self-regard is in full flow. They had a good season, when Citeh, Chelsea and United had new managers, and our and United's seasons were massively below expectations, and it is all normal service is resumed, and an assumption that they will be pushing for the title next season. Don't they understand they had no European football to stretch their rather light squad? Don't they understand that teams will be sussing them out and likely to play them differently next season? I actually read one of them say that if they miss nine games, they might need Suarez against Citeh, but they should be able to manage the rest without him - those nine games include 4 of last seasons top 8 - the arrogance is palpable. Even without this, I was of the opinion that they would have a rather less pleasing next season. Their club icon is on his last legs, and has a recent record of throwing things at the vital moment. Their major talent is a loon. Their squad is light. Teams will likely play them differently. Ourselves and United are likely to be far stronger.

Ah, well...this, at least, allows them to have their excuses in first as to why they don't win the treble next season o_O

They're not taking season's into account, the point is that they're banning him from football altogether starting now.

From a Liverpool fan at work:

A few comparisons:-

· Joey Barton gets red for elbowingCarlos Tevez, tries to knee Sergio Aguero and head-butt Vincent Kompany – 12 match league ban
· Joey Barton assaults Manchester City team-mate Ousmane Dabo in training – 12 match league ban
· Ben Thatcher - elbow onPortsmouth’s Pedro Mendes, knocking him out cold and causing him to have a seizure – 8 match league ban
· Pepe’s two footed lunge brings down a midfielder, he puts the boot into them twice on the floor, then punches a second player to the floor – 10 match league ban.
· Martin Taylor tackles Eduardo with both feet, leaving him with horrendous injuries and out for over a year – red card
· Ryan Shawcross’s awful tackle on Aaron Ramsey, causing the player a double fracture – red card, suspended for 3 matches
· Nigel De Jong on Xabi Alonso – one of the worst challenges ever seen – yellow card
Louis Suarez – 3rd bite of the cherry – 9 match international ban + 4 month worldwide ban?

He could have taken drugs (like Kolo Toure, Edgar Davids, Japp Stam) and got a shorter ban than he has been given.

Whilst this probably isn't for 'Spurs chat' I can understand both sides to a degree. This is an unprecedented fine (for FIFA), so I suppose it's hard for them to slap a disproportionate (in some respects) ban when you consider other misdemeanors. However on the flip side Cantona was banned for 8 months and Mutu was banned for 7 months for taking a drug which wouldn't have any effect on his performance.

The fact Suarez has previous really meant he should have got a heavier ban imposed but we know how toothless (;-)) these authorities are.

Neither cases were dealt with by FIFA though, both were banned by the FA.

Uruguay have just announced that they will appeal

Hopefully FIFA won't buckle and will increase the ban.

The @luis16suarez ban shows how much of a corrupt organization FIFA is. Controlled by Man U and Everton scum attacking Liverpool constantly.

Paul Kelso @pkelso · 25m
Uruguayan FA president Wilmar Valdez confirms that they will appeal Suarez ban, says punishment is excessive and evidence not strong enough

Yeah video evidence seen by millions around the world is hardly concrete

and f**k off Liverpool always playing the f**king victim.

I can understand Liverpool fans being annoyed by this outcome but reading RAWK the majority blame Suarez and are just concerned of how it might affect their season which is an understandable reaction.

The problem is that the majority are actually saying it is a conspiracy and it is a minority who actually see it as a punishment for Suarez that they have got caught up in.
