"The Fifa sanction is shameful - they have no sensitivity towards the fans. They might as well handcuff him and throw him in Guantanamo," said Maradona, who during the programme wore a T-shirt bearing the message 'Luis, we are with you'.

Im starting to think this is a cultural problem - players from humble backgrounds in South America dont see the problem in cheating to try to get on in football. "Luis, we are with you" - what dos that even mean, with him in what? Ive spent time in Soutn America, learned Spanish in Ecuador in fact so hope this comes across as an honest, curious question rather than some xenophobic rant!

I thought this was a well thought/known thing?

i really dont know - would love to hear the explanation. Frankly though IMO, it shouldnt be about background or wealth, just 11 men against 11 trying to beat each other via skill and athletic ability. They can go on X-factor or BTG if theyve got a sad story to share!

Yeah, but this isn't even cheating.

This is a grown man who has several times now bitten people in the most public arena possible. I wouldn't ever want to be in the same room as him tbh. The guy clearly has anger issues and I don't know whether that is a mental illness or not so please excuse me when I say this - no offence intended to others who suffer from mental illness - the guy is a fucking nutter.

He needs real help or I can only see this getting worse, not better.

Or maybe the UK is truly wrong about this and adults biting each other in a rage occurs all the time across the rest of the world. It's the only explanation I can think of for people openly supporting him and framing this as a trivial matter.

Maradona...of course hes exactly the type of person who everyone will take seriously when it comes to taking the moral high ground - cheating, performance enhancing drugs, coke habit etc.

Liverpool fans are tied for the most insufferable on the planet. Who are they tied with? Dr Creepy's other club, the red sox. So Dr Creepy really is a perfect fit for them.

BBC saying Barcelona STILL want Suarez!

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/28059782

Barcelona remain keen on signing Uruguay's Luis Suarez despite his four-month ban for biting Giorgio Chiellini.

The Liverpool striker, 27, cannot take part in any football-related activity until the end of October.

Suarez bit the player during Uruguay's 1-0 win over Italy that saw them qualify for the World Cup last 16.

It is understood the La Liga club, who already have Neymar and Lionel Messi, would consider signing Suarez if they can get him at the right price.

So Maradona, the Uruguayan PM, and even Chiellini, the guy he bit, is saying it's excessive punishment.

It's like the whole world has gone crazy.

A DECADES-LONG conspiracy to discredit Uruguay and their star player Luis Suarez has been revealed.

It simply isn’t credible that anyone would do this

The multi-billion operation, involving body doubles, faked footage and carried out with the full cooperation of media organisations across the globe, was co-ordinated by MI6, the CIA, and Mossad under the direct control of David Cameron and Barack Obama.

Guy Poyet on one of the Word Cup programs was talking about this. In fact, I have just come across this:

"It is instilled in children as young as six in Uruguay, this insatiable lust for victory overpowering any sense of morality or justice. Football is a way of life over there and they care little for other sports."

Interesting that Liverpool have been quiet regarding Suarez this time around.

I honestly think that this latest incident is the proverbial straw that breaks the camels back and that Liverpool will sell him this summer.

Chiellini says the ban is excessive

Didn't he say something like "Suarez and his family must be going through a terrible time"

Perhaps they should have raised their child not to bite other people.

If he keeps on doing it and lets face it, he shows no sign of letting up, do we think players would start to refuse to play against him for fear of being next on the menu?

Personally I think not, but it'd certainly set the cat amongst the pigeons wouldn't it?

To be honest, I can see players wanting to introduce his legs to the underside of their boots.
