Apparently according to Durham Talk Sport Pochettino has pretty much signed for Real Madrid. The conversation is all about which players he's going to take with him.

Shite, did I miss something?
Yep and Kane also.
At least now we know.

He such a wind up merchant. I'm pretty sure he done some section at the start of the week claiming Poch was over rated. Now today he has Poch taking over Real in the summer.

Agree. Durham is trying to create good radio - controversy. I doubt he really believes half he says. If he does.....

I just posted a thread about this interview with Erik Lamela, but i thought this quote needed to go here. He really is a wonderful man, our Mauricio. He's so much more than just a football manager to this club, it's players and fans imo.

'Hearing the story scared me. I was a long way away and it was really difficult. Thank God he survived it and Mauricio, who is a great man, let me travel to Argentina to be with him. Actually, it was more than that. He was the one who made me get that ticket to go to Argentina so that I could be by his side.”'

Oh and if @tiger666 and @Shadydan don't like me posting articles about Poch when they aren't all chocolates and roses then you can 'go to hell' , just like the Fulham fans who don't like the Michael Jackson Statue

Mauricio Pochettino is Florentino Perez's first, second, third and fourth choice to replace Zinedine Zidane at Real Madrid, according to Guillem Balague.
Zidane's trophy-laden spell at the Bernabeu is on the brink of collapse, with Madrid 19 points adrift of La Liga leaders Barcelona and having been dumped out of the Copa del Rey by lowly Leganes.
The Frenchman admits his job now hinges on a positive Champions League campaign, but with in-form Paris Saint-Germain lying in wait in the last 16, his days in Madrid look numbered.
According to Sky Sports' Spanish football expert Balague, Real president Perez has identified Tottenham boss Pochettino as the primary candidate to replace Zidane, but doubts whether Madrid will be able to lure him away from Spurs.
"Pochettino is top of Real Madrid's wanted list; he is number one, number two, number three and number four for Florentino

Perez," Balague told Sky Sports News.
"He definitely wants Pochettino, there's no doubt about that. I'm pretty sure Mauricio and Spurs know that themselves, but it doesn't mean anything.
"Pochettino has often said his future does not depend on him and there's truth in that.
"Before he signed a contract extension in May 2016 he had a buy-out clause that Real Madrid could have activated.

"Now there is no buy-out clause, so for Pochettino to move to Real Madrid they would have to convince Daniel Levy, something Real won't be able to do."
Whether Levy could be convinced to part with Pochettino or not is irrelevant as far as Balague is concerned.
He feels the club's ability to tie down their best players, coupled with the prospect of taking Spurs into their new stadium at White Hart Lane, offers plenty of reasons for the Argentine to stay.

"There are a lot of reasons for Pochettino to stay at Spurs," Balague added.
"You only have to look at the way he speaks inside the club with Daniel Levy, convincing players to sign new contracts and, of course, there is the new stadium next season.
"But that doesn't stop Perez having him as first, second, third or fourth choice for the future."

Imagine if say we had been a mid table club and got taken over buy some oil billionaire who put £500m in and we bought
Kane £200m
Dele £80m
Eriksen £70m
Alderweireld £70m
Sanchez £40m
Vertonghen £40m

And we were sitting 5th in table likely 5 pts off top 4. If you look at it objectively and not with rose tinted specs then questions would be being asked. Not saying he’s under pressure but I do think questions should be being asked. Especially on his selections and subs this season.

You do realise that a large reason those players would be valued that highly now is because of the work Pochettino has done over the past 2-3 years, right?

Would be remarkable if Poch turned down Madrid to stay with us. And would set a great example to our players. I expect we'll have an entire summer of Kane & Pochettino to Madrid for $$$$$$$$$$$$ all over the media

It’s also a brilliant opportunity for Poch to use the Real interest as leverage to get the players he wants to complete our squad, and give contracts to our current ones.

He’s not really a manager who’s always banging on the chairman’s door for one more player, but even he won’t be blind to the strong position he has Levy in.

I think there’s probably only 2-3 clubs that would interest Poch, UTD, PSG and Madrid. 2 of those are arguably the biggest clubs in the world and it would be very difficult for Poch to turn down Madrid

The Poch/Kane to Madrid thing is going to get very, very boring, very quickly this summer.

Especially if Harry has a good World Cup.

Thing is, as bad as the Spanish football media are, and they are worse than the English for making things up, they sort of defend their clubs etc and are a bit narky about their best players/managers leaving Spain for other leagues.

Our football press are doing their best to try and get Poch and Harry to Spain it seems!

They will refuse to accept that neither are going anywhere.

PSG aren’t anything like the biggest club in the world. Traditionally they are barely a big club in France. Formed in the 70’s weren’t they?
The only risk there and it is a real risk, is Poch played for them and loved his time there. That’s the connection.
Had Espanyol not got rid of him, Poch would still be there imo.
Our best hope of keeping him is that he now feels about us like he does about the likes of Espanyol, PSG and maybe even Newell’s ( unlikely any club will match them for his affections though )

In fairness, he said 2 of those are the biggest clubs in the world - United and Madrid.

Ah ok, my bad. I read it as if he said two of those are the biggest clubs in the world ‘and it would be difficult to turn down Madrid’ as in Madrid wasn’t included in the first part of the claim.

Nonsensical argument.

Those players are only worth that kind of money because of Pochettino. He's coached them all to a level that they are now top class players.

You obviously haven't factored in how much more competitive Pochettino has made us over the past 4 years. Previously, yeah we were always around 5th or 6th, but we were a million miles away from where we are now in terms of team spirit, professional attitude and ability.

How much were our best players valued at in 13/14? That tells you everything you need to know.

Yeah he'd be nuts to leave us at this stage but I hope he's intelligent enough to subtly use it as leverage.
