I just thought he was saying he couldn't say he'd be here 100% next year because it isn't up to him, he could have said yes and then got sacked tomorrow, if one thing is certain it's that no manager can say he will keep his job even if he wants to.
I don't know if that's the case but I am surprised that not one person has even suggested it, one thing I do know though is that Poch never gives anything away in press conferences.

That's always how I read it when he's ambiguous like that.

Considering SSN and Talksport were there and haven't twisted the words how some in here have, which is their forte, I'm taking the reports that he was happy and the coinciding ITK from Herc as a positive.

The trouble is he brings up possible interest from other clubs and how they would need to speak to Levy. That bit was worrying

Maybe I’m wrong as I was watching it on my phone on the train but I though he did when he was talking about the media in Spain asking him about other clubs?
Yeah you're wrong.
The Spanish media brought it up, and he replied about them having to speak with Levy.

Im amazed at our fans tenacity to search for a negative, its relentless.

It's largely been a forgettable season. A few great results and two-three outstanding matches, but loads of mundane footie week in week out.
HOWEVER, 3 CLs in a row on is, on an aggregated basis, phenomenal! :woot:

As far as “mundane” football. If you compare our home performances to 16/17 to a degree you’d have a point. We certainly didn’t blow away the smaller teams like 16/17. But then there were some exceptional performances Madrid Dortmund Liverpool United NLD. But there’s something about Wembley that’s not conducive to good football imo. No idea what it is the pitch the atmosphere. But how often do you actually see good football played at Wembley by ANYONE? Honestly hate the place and can’t wait to get back to WHL.

When judging a manager you have to look at the bigger picture.

Getting top four again with the challenges we have faced this season has been a very good achievement.

We are not doing it with an ageing squad or overspending so it doesn’t feel like it is being achieved with a short term approach or with a wall being hit soon.

So for me Poch is doing an excellent job.

When he first took over he was ruthless on getting rid of the likes of Adebayor and others. Also selling Bentaleb when he seemed to have good potential.

I feel to push on Poch might need to be ruthless again.

It’s great that he trusts his players but he needs to keep driving us forward.

Eh? That’s kind of what I said?.

I’m not a negative fan. Wasn’t losing my shit these last couple of weeks on here or at the game on Thursday like a lot of others. I like to think I’m fairly level headed in regards to Football. I feel like I’m interpretating these comments with a straight bat, not getting hysterical one way or other.

This is right, in three years time this side will be even better even if we don't bring in better players.

You said Poch brought up the 'interest from other clubs' stuff, which is why I asked you when he did that, as I thought I might've missed something.
But he didn't bring it up at all, he was just asked about it by the media.

But he did? In the pre game press he was asked if he would definitely be here next season, he wasn’t asked about other clubs interest. He brought up the Spanish media stuff about other clubs and speaking to the chairman.

I was originally responding to another poster about the reason he couldn’t say 100% he’d be here next season because as a manager you could get sacked anytime, which is of course true but by bringing up other clubs interest and about talking to the chairman I don’t think that’s what he meant.

I still believe and hope he’ll stay but looking at the last few interviews and press conferences he’s sounding and acting a bit more detached, just my opinion. I’m hoping it’ll blow over, levy will make him an offer he can’t refuse and he’ll back him in the transfer market we’ll go into the new stadium and season with some momentum.

One thing that I’m sure doesn’t help is when our “ fans “ boo the team off at the end of the first half in a vital must win match in a half empty stadium. Poch has said before that he wouldn’t stay if he didn’t feel wanted and that, combined with the constant sniping that we didn’t win anything so he hasn’t proved we are a big club may be in his mind if and when Madrid come calling.

Yes cos Madrid fans are always supportive of their team.

I think he knows what goes with the territory in Madrid and quadrupling his salary with a huge transfer budget are what he would get too . He doesn't need to put up with it from our fans and I don't recall it happening to him until recently. Good job we made into top 4 otherwise the " Poch out " cries would have been next.

You're never gonna get rid of this mentality from some Spurs fans, they think the next fuck up is just around the corner no matter the circumstance, quite sad tbh.

Its the 'reading between the lines' bit that makes me chuckle, aka crowbarring in a narrative.
