Vino casa, the only wine you ever need to know in Spain or Italy.In Catalonia, I'd hope he would be drinking anything but Rioja, over-hyped and under-developed red wine which flaws are masked by heavy vanilla from french oak is not something one should be having when perefect, Catalonian wine is so easily available.

Depends where really, if you are in a tourist hotspot yes you're gonna be ripped off, particularly if you don't know what you're doing. But in most restaurants they do label the price of house wine, its normally considerably cheaper than the other options, its quality varies greatly however.Baaah, don't really know about that.
