Perez and Real Madrid have given up very quickly! That's not their style.

If Pochettino had indicated to them that he wanted to come (as the press has said) surely they would have tried to negotiate with Levy not just given up before they even started

They know how hard it is to negotiate with levy and if Poch has not said he wants to go to them, they have no leverage to try and get the move done.

Would cost them a lot with his new contract even before levy tries to add on extras for the inconvenience of it all!

"Real started fishing and put the idea out there in the media to see what the reaction was, but straight away they realised there was no clause for Pochettino to leave," he said.

"They leaked to the media with the idea of adding pressure that there was a deal between Levy and Pochettino where he could leave for Madrid, but that was also false and very quickly quashed by Spurs. There really was no door half open." :D

And there we have it. Totally fabricated and fed to the hacks to unsettle us.

Hasn’t worked and they’ve moved on.

Are we still on this? Poch just signed a new contract. Kane, Ali, Eriksen, just followed suit. He's not going anywhere. Media hype.
Unfortunately whether we like it or not until the Madrid job is filled Poch is going to be heavily linked with it. Marca are Madrid's mouthpiece and they clearly seem intent on pressing the issue just that little bit more to see what happens. Madrid are used to getting their way, especially as far as Spurs are concerned, and while we may have grown past the form they previously encountered, clubs like Madrid do not recognize or care. They are an only child to trillionaires and they expect what they want. There are also not a lot of good available candidates so whomever they pursue it will be tough as well. Especially now that they have so aggressively put it out there that Poch is who they want, any other appointment they will have to sell to their fans as a victory.

They started fishing before Poch committed to a new contract. He played the media well. He LOVES it here!!!

He wants to keep everyone on their toes. Apparently he learned that from Fergie. He has no interest in RM! He wants to create a dynasty. And he is being allowed to do so.

He is being BACKED!!!

So if anyone wants to keep having nervous disorders after all the above, you are welcomed. But I do not wish it on anyone.

Love the fact that he's keeping everyone on their toes. Exactly what Levy needs. We have a very very special manager in Poch.

Clauses don’t apply to managers as clubs don’t hold their registration. Poch could just quit and reappear at Madrid and leave the clubs to retrospectively negotiate compensation. But ... Poch clearly said he’s happy with us, has just signed a new deal, and is looking forward to next season with us. He also said he would not disrespect Levy by forcing a move. So ... Madrid did not end their interest in Poch, Poch and Levy ended it. Move on, nothing to see other than media bullshit.

Best news of the summer, so important for the club. Thanks Herc!

When I met Poch at “The Lane” film promotion late last year it became abundantly clear how entrenched he is at Spurs. He’s living what it means to be Spurs. I’m a nobody and the way he engaged and respected me, someone who has no consequence to him, was unusual and unexpected.

Seeing his dynamic with the ex spurs lads and even more so Hugo L, says more to me than the shit written by headline journalists. Hugo’s eyes lit up with a smile and embrace when they saw each other. There is something special. It’s deep and it’s genuine. I sense it’s not a job to him...it’s his heart driving him.

I noticed him putting his arm around and chatting to some of the academy players. He’s seem very protective about Spurs. Herc’s latest info seems so consistent with what my eyes saw and the chat I had with him.

Couldnt unsettle him so they have to look elsewhere. Plus they would have had to pay a hefty transfer fee.
