He'll leave now for Madrid or in the summer for United. Levy bottled the chance to compete. Everyone knows it and still will go to the end of the earth to defend him. I have a feeling tomorrow will be Poch's last game in charge. Madrid will come in first thing Tuesday and Poch will bolt. But hey! At least mr second to none could have a chance to come back and get his ratio back up as caretaker(fucking kill me)

I agree with you in most of your post except that. Marca running the story "Conte is coming.", so we're safe from Madrid for now (until the summer)

no way we can bring quality players in winter transfer window unless
  1. the player joins in summer (e.g. dele)
  2. we pay the release clause and convince the player to join
  3. the player is a surplus (e.g. moura)
and we still get a bunch of deadwood on our hands, we know how it would end don't we:whistle:

Been thinking about this for a while.
I've always advocated a new stadium. We weren't going anywhere in the old one, we'd always be handicapped.

The thing is, did we really need to go as mad as we have? All the talk of best this and best that, biggest this and biggest that, what has it achieved? No naming rights. Delayed opening. Potentially crippling depts.

Obviously WHL had it's problems, but it hadn't been touched since '98. You have to wonder if we could have taken the stands individually over the last 20 years and steadily upgraded WHL.

Unfortunately, I think when ENIC took over they only ever had one goal, and that was a world class stadium.

Last summer was the make or break moment for Levy and he fluffed his lines in the most explosive fashion possible. If it wasn’t clear to him then that failure to show ambition and to back his manager could be disastrous, then it never will be and those wanting his ouster should be granted their wish.

We won’t sign anyone this January. Maybe with the exception of agreements for next summer. And I promise you Poch will quit at the end of the season if an opportunity arises at one of the bigger clubs. And frankly I wouldn’t blame him one single bit. He deserves better than he gets from Levy. We all do.

I for one am glad that Poch has come out and said all of this publicly. It has been obvious to anyone who has been paying attention, and who isn't blinded by a sycophantic loyalty to Daniel Levy, that all was not well behind the scenes. By finally admitting it publicly, Poch is putting the onus on Levy and the board to actually act.

What's most encouraging is that this feels to me like a calculated, last-ditch effort at salvaging his work at Spurs rather than a come-and-get-me plea to Florentino Perez or Ed Woodward. When Poch says "I wish and I hope for the future for everyone that we will be available as a club to be in the same condition as others and to show our real skills," I think he actually does mean that he wishes and hopes that he'll be able to compete as the manager of this club. That he hasn't quite thrown in the towel just yet.

But it's clear that he's absolutely fed up with being left in the dust as our rivals continue to improve upon their weakness with each successive window while we stand still, and that even if he does want to see this project through that he isn't going to put up with this treatment much longer. He's laid down a marker, and I think we'll all know come the first of February what the medium-term future of the club will (or won't) look like.

It will leak out into the press. ENIC & DL, can remedy it. Spend 150m! Simple as!

Or loose him. Yes, they get a pretty penny for him. Yes our star players will leave, though under contract. We take in loads, and sell the club, and start again.

The club has no choice but back him!!!

Please don’t go on about ‘we will never spend 150m’. There is almost no choice.
of course enic&dl has a choice - neglect the football stuff and sell the club when the stadium is built, leaving the problems to the next owner

To the BSoDL - It's not just about getting another manager in who might do equally as well as Poch. Poch is a true gent, with a demeanour and respect only found in the rarest of human beings. I look forward to hearing him speak, where in not too distant memory we were having to endure the thoughts of Tim Sherwood, or the mumbled croaks of AVB. Even Harry Redknapp could only say the word "fantastic" over and over again. In Poch, we have an intelligent, articulate, respectful manager who is not only good for the brand, but makes you feel proud to support the ethos he has set about instilling at the club.

Change the manager and you change the feeling towards brand Tottenham slightly. He's a part of our identity now.

We failed him big time this summer. Clearly the issues with the stadium are also taking their toll. Think he is off this summer which will be a real shame as we will all be left thinking what if we actually backed him.

I've expected something like this to eventually come out after the Summer transfer window...not quite this soon though, but I'd imagine our CL horrors have played a part.

The season to date has been a disappointment, albeit a somewhat predictable one...can't honestly blame Poch for not enjoying himself.

Some unhappy/wantaway players in the squad, other players with little to no decent cover after a busy World Cup, the stadium fiasco (and subsequent lies from Levy), Hugo getting pissed and making decisions on the pitch like he's had a few...and now this.

Does this have a point about January? Is this a veiled threat to DL/a call to other clubs that's he's not happy?

Not good, but it's easy to understand why Poch isn't very happy, I'm not!

Way more than slightly.

He is basically now starting to defend him self and reputation, he has built it up and the longer he stays at Spurs with the same modus operandi the greater the damage to his reputation. A calling card to DL. Can DL turn this around?

Was literally thinking about this yesterday.

There’s little to gain for Poch to hang around much longer unless something drastic changes as he’s on a hiding to nothing, and the press this season has stopped being “ooh isn’t he overachieving”

If I was him, I’d be hunting on LinkedIn and getting some lunches in

I don't think he's ready to go just yet...these comments seem to suggest an emotional attachment to his project. I would speculate that he would consider it a terrible failure if he left here without having won anything.
However, I think when he comes to the realisation that it is impossible to win trophies at this club under the current circumstances/ leadership, that is when he might go. Wherever he goes, man utd or Real, it would be hard to imagine him not being a huge success there.

His depression comes from the feeling that the only way now is down . He's standing apart from Spurs for the first time in quotes and saying I can't perform miracles with one hand tied behind my back .

This for me is the kernel of the quotes “Still we are not showing that level to be a real contender. That is my opinion." He's realising he cannot progress with us ....and of course any ambitious players we have will know this to be the case too.

Gonna be so much worse after city smash us tonight. The gulf will be even greatly obvious. Chelsea alone yesterday goes a way to show what can happen if you back the manager. 'brave' my arse

He mentions about falling at the final hurdle and not winning trophies. He’s passing the buck here a bit. Surely it’s his job to get them over the line too?

Let’s see the reaction on here should we lose to West Ham on Wednesday in a competition we have a good chance of winning. I bet there will be complaints about him.

We’re going to be a laughing stock to the world if Poch walks because he wasn’t backed. He isn’t exactly known for lavish spending either. Has Levy Levyd himself in an act of comically tragic clusterfuckery

I also think this summer we suffered by not having a transfer head honcho to do the deals. I know DL likes to interfere in transfer deals, even when we had one in place, but during a year where the chairman’s eye has been on the stadium more than anything else, it was a time to have it delegated to someone else experienced in the job for 12/18 months.

Will be interesting to see if the performance tonight reflects his mood. A half arsed effort and a 3-4 goal loss and the daggers will be out for Poch, Levy and the players.
