Great move by Poch in my opinion and I hope a few arses were given a good kicking over the last few days. That performance was just not acceptable, it may have been 5 years ago but not anymore, not under Poch.

Sounds like some players didn’t like the changing rooms being small and dingey up at Burnley which I’m sure pissed Poch off more than anything. We’re there to play football not for a spa day in a luxury hotel. Man the fuck up.

I believe very few at senior level. Probably only those who have played for Ajax, and obviosuly Llorente.
Aurier and Lucas will have some honours from their time at in France. Although PSG would probably still win that league if their tea lady put some shinpads on and played 10 games.

I think if we'd have been hammering on Burnley's door and got sucker punched then Poch wouldn't be saying this. There was a distinct lack of intensity and desire in our play throughout the 90. It took us a while to get going then we had a good spell 10 mins before HT, that's normal, but the difference this time was that the team didn't really get well and truly on top, especially after we equalised. When Kane scored I thought to myself "That's it now, we'll turn the screw like we have done many times before" but it never came, in fact we got worse after it. There was a lack of intensity and there was certainly a lack of composure in defence which contributed to the goals. Play like that tonight and Saturday and we'll be sweating about top 4.

One for the stattos please: how many of our squad have won trophies with their clubs?

Lloris: French cup and their "Charity Shield"
Alderweireld: Dutch league x3, dutch cup x3, dutch "Charity Shield", Spanish league (few games)
Vertonghen: Dutch league x2, dutch cup
Sanchez: South American version of Champions League, 2 colombian cups, also their league though it confuse me as they have league and play offs (and he played few games since he was young)
Wanyama: Scotish league x2, and their cup
Llorente: Italian league x3, Italian cup, Italian "Charity Shield" x2, Europa League
Eriksen: Dutch league x3, dutch cup, dutch "Charity Shield
Aurier: French league x2, french cup x2, french league cup x3, french "Charity Shield" x3
Lucas: French league x4, french cup x3, french league cup x4, french "Charity Shield" x5
Davies: English League Cup

This talk about us taking 10 years to achieve something is not sitting well with me. I understand Poch's intentions, and how frustrated he must be since he's taken charge but part of the problem has been that we lack quality. The thing is that we are simply not good enough to compete with the likes of City and Liverpool this year, and losses were bound to happen. It's frustrating that we often lose to supposedly lesser teams but it's not like our track record against top 6 teams is impressive either.

We haven't bought a single player in two windows. We have certain players that all fans can't be too confident about. How would you feel if you were Jan or Toby having to play with inexperienced players like Foyth (I rate him but he needs more experience and needs to fill out a bit first) or a known defensive liability like Tripps? Sissoko is tasked with covering him but does he feel confident?

How about Eriksen having to fill in different roles and often playing out of his position or having to rely on Llorente whilst Kane and Son were out or unavailable?

The imbalance in quality between our key players and the rest is quite obvious and it will have an impact on our confidence as a team.

I am not saying that our mentality isn't an issue but the bigger problem is the lack of investment. Also with Eriksen and Toby possibly leaving, it can't be all that good to say that it might take 10 years to win something to our players who have ambitions.

That being said, I get where Poch's coming from. It was quite obvious how important the Burnley game was to him but I wish he hadn't said that.

Yup, though he asked for club trophies.
Aurier has won the African Cup of Nations, Son recently the Asian Games (as over aged player in U23 tournament), Llorente is both European and World Champion.
Lucas is an olympic silver medalist and have won the FIFA Confederations Cup

I agree to an extent but we could have competed had we won crunch games... we didnt... you cant say we dont have better players than Burnley or Wolves for example - but we lost those games... I dont think thats down to quality but more we fucked up. Is that a mentality issue? I simply do not know.

We do need players definitely particularly to add to the first team and that will only increase with Toby and Eriksen potentially leaving but having got ourselves in a good position (in the context of winning the league) we simply should have performed better to win crunch games.

Definitely mental. We have lost games against average to below average sides after massive games. It’s a pattern. Annoys the fuck out of me. Poch has talked about this several times.

Certainly mental, but in the case of Wolves perhaps also fatigue caught up to us? In the case of Burnley, we had a lengthy break with no matches. It might be the case that we have played regularly so much up to this point, that the players had lost momentum and rhythm. Had that game been the weekend after Dortmund, then perhaps momentum would have seen us carry on from where we left off? All ifs, buts and maybes though.

Pretty certain there is a mentality factor when it comes to certain games. But, what amazes me is how we can go to Madrid, Barca and Juve picking up results, yet when we can get so close in the league away at a lesser side in Burnley, we falter. There is something in that. Maybe the players think they could cruise it, thought 10 days break would mean we could just stroll and beat them, because they have the quality.

My gooner mate reckons Poch is off, he's outed the players which he never does, says we're 10 years off from winning the Title. He says that's him off in the Summer. I told him why don't you fuck off you no necked ginger fuckwit

I think he was right to say it, because I've thought there's a lack of belief within the squad. I'm not sure some of our players believe they're at the right club to win things, but they miss the point, because as Poch has intimated they won't win anything unless they believe they will & are fully committed to doing so. The Burnley suggests they are still along way from being that committed.

I didn’t see the Burnley game but that sounds like a lot of spurs games I’ve watched over the years!

Poch was spot on in what he said. I see nothing wrong at all. In fact I see him mentioning 10 years in a way that sounds like he'll stay that long if that's how long it takes.

Poch is feeling the strain no doubt about it. Agree in principle about our weak mentality, but i hope the players got their say too, as tactically he was a mess on saturday. They (bar Kane) wasn't the only ones who underperformed.
