To be honest i'd much rather stick with the Tottenham Hotspur stadium.

i'm sure people use us not having one as a stick to beat Levy with rather than actually wanting our stadium to be called some corporate tosh.

20m a year is hardly going to turn the fortunes of this club around.

Also depends on how much publicity the stadium name gets. So for concerts, NFL ect it's broadcast around the world at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium compared to what ever sponsor deal ends up calling it.

I guess Tottenham must know how much the brand name is being in via tourist attractions and could well be waiting until that drops to a point where it will be lower than if we don't have a sponsor.

So do we think that lot are thinking they need to sell naming rights to try and generate some cash?
If they’ve got to find £100m by June and they can get £15/20m then it’d be one less home grown they’ve got to sell.
Totally logical from their perspective and I’m sure this bloke has had enough conversations with companies who would be prepared to stump up, especially on the other side of the pond.
Perfect match by the sounds of it.

For those that disagree with me - and there are many - if the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is such a good deal for the club - why do they continue to look for a naming rights partner?

(Hint: - it's not a good deal, but it's currently better than a bad deal. And thus far, they have not found anyone who is willing to pay what Spurs want, and who also has a brand Spurs would be proud to be associated with. But, don't confuse that with "We get loads of publicity, so we don't need/want a naming rights deal." Levy absolutely wants a naming rights deal.)

Because it shows potential value (and income streams) to a potential buyer, it turns heads in markets we're looking to operate in (think a London NFL franchise). Nothing says we have to have naming rights just now, there's nothing wrong with shopping around. Something like this sticks with the ground for it's entire life too, so it has to be near perfect.

Can't have the ground being sponsored by OXO for example. We'd be a laughing stock!

Well you were saying it was a bad deal earlier, so at least we've moved you to better than a bad deal!

Getting dull now. Yes there is a value to doing it. No one has come close to that value yet presumably.

Or even, you know, maybe there are things that we don't know about in the pipeline that would mean it's better to wait and get a much much better deal.

Ultimately we're football fans, not people inside the company that is Tottenham. Pretending we have any insight at all is a bit silly

It is expected that Kline will now play a big part in Chelsea’s stadium plans, with the club yet to announce whether they will rebuild Stamford Bridge or move to another site. Whichever option the club takes up, it is assumed they will seek stadium naming rights.
This is going to be interesting

Hope it works as well as the rest of Todd Boehly's Chelsea decisions. May need a very big bag of pop corn

Todd introduces Todd to the rest of the staff - haha!

Think it was on Newcasltes amazon series, they said shirt commercial deals take an age to sort out, think they said 12/18 months, so cant see a stadium deal been any quicker. Would be longer if anything.

Presumably shirt stuff takes a while because there’s manufacturing things to consider. Most of these big shirt makers likely make them well in advance ready to be shipped in time for the new season etc.

There’s probably containers full of next years spurs kit sitting in a warehouse in Vietnam as we speak. With the season after ready for production later this year.

If he can sell the naming rights to an old, rundown, relatively small stadium that only hosts a mid table Chelsea for anything more than £5mil a year I'd be amazed. And even then a deal a deal like this doesn't happen over night, it takes months.

What, say they sell it on £5m a year for 5 years, but all the £25m paid upfront? Sure the saudi's have loads of companies they can funnel it through without been caught out.

Can they even sell naming rights with the CPO voting on it?
