Did anyone see the Toon fans last night, all chanting for Alan Shearer to be the manager, they still don't get it do they? they still want a messiah, they always want a messiah when what they need is a manager and players worth the name as well as a plan of some kind and some patience.

There was some Geordie fan on 5 live earlier lamenting the fact that only a few managers could truly understand the club and its fans. It's that kind of bollocks that got them in this situation in the first place!

Indeed, Newcastle away will always be close to my heart, one of the better away trips, though without the temptation of Geordie lasses I'm sure my missus will be a lot happier.

And no European trips this year either. The prospect of trips to Burnley doesn't quite fill me with as much joy.
