Blimey, what a pessimistic bunch you lot are, why does everyone think Newcastles form has been so worrying? Have you seen who they have picked up points against? If we cant do them, then any claims of top 4 should be forgotten, we have the team, the players and the set up to go through them like a knife through butter.
Our EUFA team should beat most of these sides, certainly wouldn't waste Ledders against the majority of them, not with Gallas on the way back

Continuing the optimistic theme we are 5 points up on the corresponding fixtures last year and we have played three of last years top four and Liverpool. On the other hand, this season we have won all of our games against bottom half sides.:)

Very true, but not all bottom half teams will be as much of a pushover as the gooners.

We lost to Wolves at home the season we finished 4th, this game hardly means as much as you state.

I think we will be too strong for Newcastle, this group of players are the real deal.

I agree, really looking forward to the game. Newcastle have started well but I think they'll struggle to deal with our forward players. If King starts I could see us just shading it.

Agreed, we're a very good side now, there are very few excuses available now for a poor result.

I'll stick with my 20+ prediction but King and Adebayor are the the keys. If they miss games at the same time we're a much weaker proposition

last season from those same games we got 16 points 4 draws 4 wins one defeat if you take qpr as west ham

ideally 7 wins 1 draw 1 defaeat

but an improvement on 16 ideally at least 19 would be great.

first five last season seven points 1 w 4 dr 1 d this season 12 up five so on that logic 21 should be achievable

interestingly we got 11 points away from home and only five at home from those nine games. if we can maintain the 11 from the away games and double the home points we are on our way.

I can see us winning all of them.

However, Im an experience Spurs fan so I can also see us loosing half of them.

Im going glass half full on this one, 21-24 points I think. I really think we are that good this season.

As has been said, we have had a major dip in form against the Manc clubs and we have come back strong!!

If we play like we did in our first two games this season, or in the second half against Wigan, or when Liverpool were down to ten men, or for about 50 mins of the Arsenal game, or if Adebayor or King gets injured, then we'll do a lot worse than most people on this thread reckon.

My point is that people tend to bear in mind their team's good performances when predicting results. All teams slip up - look at Man U's last three games: two draws against Stoke and Basel then barely getting any shots on target against Norwich till right at the end.

It's also football, therefore incredibly unpredictable. But if I had to guess I'd say we'll get between 15 and 20 points over those nine games. 18 would be a good result.

Best defensive record in the league? Only team not to have conceded more than 1 goal in a match this season? Unbeaten? Ba and Best starting to click and sticking a few goals in? Good, hard working, tough central midfield? 50,000 mentalists cheering them on?

Make no mistake, it's going to be a tough game. We're good enough to win but at the moment I would be happy with a draw.

18 points (W5, D3, L1) from those 9 games is perfectly possible, and would be a good return. It would also keep us on the 2 points per game average which would guarantee CL next season.

Loving your thinking, 2 points per game (18) from them lot were my first thoughts too, though with a fair wind and a bit of luck, 20 points could be obtainable.

27 points or Harry OUT

Being serious, we should just take it one game at a time. There is no positive to pilling lots of pressure onto the lads. The lads are playing well at this moment in time, so lets go to Newcastle with the aim of getting a result and see where it goes from there

Exactly what I said...why do this to ourselves.
Every season teams, all teams, win some games they are expected to lose (except, maybe a couple of title favourites), and lose some games they are expected to win.

Just the same as the Embarrass ArseScum thread - we will embarrass them enough for me if we finish above them and put an end to St Trotteringham Day - so let's just concentrate on playing well

Not really relevant at all, but what a great username ! Legendary flat race cycler from the Tour de France, circa the early- mid 90s. I actually hate Tour de France, but my French cousins loved Abdoujaperov, and his name has always stuck in my head from when I was a kid.
