 Well done the boys anyway. We definitely would have won the comp and slapped Barcas arse on the way. They must be feeling gutted but should be proud of themselves and look forward to plenty of more opportunities in their careers winning leagues and cups with Spurs.

COYS
i'm with you, gutted for them, watched with pride as they beat liverpool, just wish we could replay or something, seems really unfair on the players!

So nobody still actually knows for a fact why we have pulled out? i'm hearing ineligable player but who? and why would our staff not know about this beforehand? it just seems a bit odd to me, and if it's to do with an ineligable player, then i'm afraid it's high time to start looking for staff that ain't so fucking stupid and incompetent.

Nabil Bentaleb was the player.....he's on trial (I think) and only 15 DOB August 1996.

The competition is only for players 16 to 18

I can´t find anything in the rules stating that players have to be between 16 and 18 years old. This passage in the rules wouldn´t rule Bentaleb out, would it?

"3. Age Category

All eligible players shall belong to the following age category:
Each squad will consist of a maximum 18 players. All players must be born on or after January 1st 1993 although 3 players are allowed in the squad who are born on or after January 1st 1992. Only two of these three players born on ar after January 2nd 1992 are allowed to play at any one time. The inclusion of the 3 older players is an ‘option’ for each participating club and not a stipulation."

Btw, I think he is rumored to have signed a two-year deal with us.

Saw this elsewhere to what you're posting about

"This was our squad the other night with DOB's where relevant, all the others are born after Jan 93, the only one I cannot find anymore about is this Nabil Bentaleb......

Line-up:

Mile, Barthram (79), Stewart, Luongo (C) (Sept 92), Veljkovic, Nicholson (July 92), Gomelt (64), Pritchard, Coulibaly, Munns, Coulthirst

Subs:Granger, Bentaleb (64), Ceballos (Dec 92), Ekong (79), Mcevoy, Angol

As Luongo and Nicholson are two "overage players" and both played the full 90mins, any subs that are overage would mean us breaking the rules. Ekong is not overage and Ceballos did not come onto play, that only leaves Bentaleb!!! "

Bentaleb says he is 17 ( See video in Bentaleb thread).

There is a discrepancy between what he says on the video and the dob given on french websites which appear to be of a former club of 21/8/96 (ie age 15). Maybe this type of discrpancy has something to do with the reason why Spurs withdrew or maybe it was something else.

If Bentelab is 15 or 17 he is not overage - 3 overage players are allowed in the squad of which only 2 can be on the pitch at any one time.

It's nothing to do with Bentalab.

Liverpool complained that we has used 2 15 year olds in an earlier round and waited till after the game to raise it....

JJ, I am confused. The rules on age state :

Age Category

All eligible players shall belong to the following age category:
Each squad will consist of a maximum 18 players. All players must be born on or after January 1st 1993 although 3 players are allowed in the squad who are born on or after January 1st 1992. http://www.nextgenseries.com/en/Terms-and-Conditions

These rules have an upper age limit, but no minimum age limit - 15 year olds are born after January 1st 1993 - so unless there are additional rules not on the website that should not be the reason.

sorry the 15 year olds were foreign

Ah....nothing in the rules about being foreign but is this down to them not having international clearance or work permit etc (which as 15 year olds may not be possible to get as 15 year old are minors, I think)?

If that's the case it's pretty shitty. Fair enough we stupidly broke a rule and all things bein fair should be disqualified but seems a bit cowardly from Liverpool. Presumably if it was raised early enough a team from our group would have taken our place against them. No class at all....really hope we batter them on Monday

They weren't registered and they found out and sat on it.....
Once we realised we did the right thing and pulled out as we had made the initial mistake and held our hands up.
very disappointing for all involved at spurs.

Delightful of them. Really, Assnal will always be #1 but these fuckwads are 1a from now on. They even wear more red than the nomads.

Make them replay the QF against the team from our group who would have qualified after our withdrawal.
