McIlroy is in a 3 way tie for the lead on Day One at St. Andrews. Go on ya lad ya!!

Woods going along well too, John Daly also up at the top, couple of the English chaps doing ok starting out too.

But, come on Rory!!!

Mcilroy just shot 63, -8.

That's the only weakness of St Andrews, if the wind ain't blowing there's no protection from these guys shooting mega low scores.

Cant see John Daly staying up at the top.

He will fade during the tournament or explode at some point after failing to find a few fairways. Easy to do at St Andrews as well.

McIlroy and Coltard doing well. Coltard wasn't sure if he would qualify so was down to do cometary during the Open.

Some interesting people in contention after the first day. Not sure 'the home of golf' is really challenging enough when the wind doesn't blow but it will at some point this weekend and whoever deals with that best will probably end up winning.

Play suspended on day two, the winds are unbelievable, blowing the ball all over the place.

There is nothing protecting St Andrews golf course from strong winds, no matter what direction its coming from.

The 17th and 18th have some shelter from the hotel and shops, but past the 2nd/3rd untill you get back to the 15th there is just nothing at all.

Oosthuizen could have a big lead after getting out early in the far less windy conditions. Even if they get back on course there will likely still be some tricky conditions to contend with.
