Good appointment. Still needs to go. As far as I’m concerned he had his last chance a good few times. Enough is enough. Give Postecoglou the board and backing he needs to do his job. Levy will always be Levy and will do damage eventually.
I don't think appointing Ange means much tbh, good appointment or not. It will depend on what happens over the next month with regard to transfers. This team is bloated and unbalanced with our star player wanting out and a manager who does not play a system that is suited to a number of the current team. There is a lot to work on for us to become remotely competitive. If Levy can pull a rabbit out of the hat this summer then he will at the least be on the road to redemption but as it is, as you say, nothing has changed IMO.

There is so much work to do. Ange has to assess a shit ton of players, he doesn't officially start until July, and so we're once again leaving everything very, very late in the day. I expect initial decisions to be 'club' decisions as he won't have had any time to make a fair assessment of the squad, and that concerns me; essentially, Levy will be making Levy-type calls, more square pegs in round holes even more so without a DOF in place.

Despite any optimism re Big Ange

Levy still needs to go
If we do appoint Ange, the fan behaviour at games needs to be a bit more nuanced imo. Get behind the team and Ange as much as possible, whilst making our feelings known to Levy. A good example would be if we were 4-0 up playing swashbuckling football yet still positively chanting for Levy to get out of the club.

We don't have to damage the team's fortunes to get angry at Levy. Having these things intertwined is exactly what Levy wants as fans become reluctant, but it doesn't have to be that way. It could help us create a siege mentality of fuck you Daniel we're going to thrive in spite of your clown show.
intersperse team / Ange chants with Levy out

makes it clear the team is being backed but people still want that cretin of a chairman out

Levy - easiest job in the world

new manager will take lots of attention away from him

5 spots for the champions league next season

he can calibrate his spending down from the "race for 4th" to a "race for 5th" [the new ceiling on our aspirations, the new "just good enough" no need to budget for anything more ambitious than that.....for ENIC is now 5th]

stadium will be full. TV money will keep coming in. All the passive income from the property investments as well. NFL. Beyonce. Ker-ching for Lewis, Levy and ENIC.

Sometimes you have to take a step backwards to move forwards.

I understand players are assets but he has to take a hit and move many on. The likes of Perisic and Lloris on big wages, can leave on a free.

Ndombele - big wages - get him out for a cut price or keep loaning with majority of salary paid off.

Dier, Sanchez, Sessegnon, Gio all need to go aswell.

Have to take a leaf out of the gooners book. They moved on and took big hits on players but its proved vital.

And also, does anyone find it a bit strange/unnecessary Levy's brother in law is on the staff and around the squad. Doesn't sit right with me at all.

This doesn't mean forgive and forget but I try to be fair and balanced and I think Levy and the board have got this appointment spot on in terms of the Manager's style of play, development of younger players and positive mentality and likeable yet determined character.

Credit to the 4 year contract and commitment to a longer-term project, this also indicates a good level of control for Big Ange in re-shaping the squad.

Munn as CFO and the footballing review and re-strucutre is a positive.

The PR around the appointment of Ange in terms of why we appointed him is spot on.

I've hammered Levy and the board for not listening to or not understanding what the fans and club wants and needs but credit where it is due they've done exactly that with this appointment.

I think in the sake of fairness if we have a big squad clear out this summer and sign Ange say 5-6 new players that will fit his system then I actually hope there are no more Levy out chants for now and the focus is fully behind the new Manager and team and project moving forwards.

I never wanted the board to spend spend spend my issue has always been that they make better football decisions that align with the clubs values and fans wants to see attacking fast football and commit to a project we can believe in and they've done exactly that with this appointment and wording.

So hopefully this can lift the cloud of negativity over the last 3 years and we can enjoy supporting the club again.

I also hope that being out of Europe Big Ange can and will take the cups very seriously so we can have a good run at them next season.

Even a stopped clock is right twice a day. Law of averages, Levy goes through so many managers that occasionally he hires the right one. Then gives them the wrong squad.

He's a slow learner.

I think the fact he's given Ange a 4 year deal means he will give him a good level of control to re-shape the squad.

As I said mate its not forgive and forget by any means and lets see how the squad shape out over summer and at the start of next season but I just think its important to be fair and balanced to the good decisions as well as the bad ones.

We didn't properly protest or even unite against him when we should have done so there is absolutely no point in thinking that this appointment can do anything bad to him

If it doesn't work whether it's his fault or not the new head coach will get the sack and they will start again like they always do.

I was fine with Levy until he sacked Mourinho to not pay his bonus and put Mason in charge.

If you had to pick any manger in the world to stop Peps city in a one off game he was your man.

All this COYS nonsense, I'm a fan, I'm desperate to see Tottenham succeed went up in dust didn't it.

How can anyone defend that?

He chose money that day 💰.
Levy chooses money every day .
Balance sheet profit over on field success is his mantra (and Lewis' too, of course) .

He’s not a slow learner. He’s a grifter who keeps distracting us with one hand while he steals with the other.

I'm all for praise, but are we at the stage where we are praising a chairman earning millions a year for putting a basic plan in place, and seemingly one that came about because after 22 years of involvement in an industry it needed an independent review of the business to tell him where he was going wrong.
If by praise you mean he's finally realised he needs to get out of his own fucking way then praise be, and to add, he knows he's in a tight spot, essentially forced into it because his real motives are being rumbled.

I think the financial issue is more fundamental.

1. Levy has pushed the boat out a bit in these last few years - I think he has pushed it past his personal comfort level, and he is less likely to continue to spend those amounts.

2. We have a good idea that we have exceeded the club's internal budget - because Levy went to Lewis last year to get £150M cash injection into the club. We used £100M, and my understanding is we will still be able to use £50M this summer - despite the deadlines talked about last year.

3. To compound the problem for Levy, I think he was willing to take more risk to continue to get CL football, and the revenue that comes from that - we failed. That alone will have a significant impact on the transfer budget - even before considering that we were spending more than Levy wanted even with CL.

4. It's not Levy's money. I actually think that is Levy were the full owner of the club, he probably would make additional investment to get the club back on track - after all , its his reputation at stake here, not Lewis'. But, I can't see Levy going back to Lewis and asking for more money, after last summer - given that we expect revenues to drop significantly in the upcoming season. Its a combination of already asking last year, poor results from that investment, and lower revenues.

I am expecting to see a net spend of about £50M this summer - which means we are going to have to do an excellent job selling players, not simply cancelling contracts.

And yes, we still have to commit to Kulu - and I am not certain that we will. Porro is an obligation - so the remainder of his fee will be part of our transfer budget this summer.

And, frankly, if we are embarking on a new project, we will have to consider any serious bids for Kane and/or Son - as a way of boosting the funds available to rebuild. Maybe we can tempt RM into Richarlison instead - but we are going to need to sell someone for decent money.
Still baffles (and angers) me. Why the fvck we committed such huge money to a wing-back knowing Conte was leaving was insane.
If that really does hamper our summer budget and Ange can't fit him into his system, it will go down as the most stupid transfer in Levy's tenure. Which is saying something.

Fair mate I also see that perspective.

I just don't think he's going anywhere so for now am choosing to be positive and focus on what should be an exciting new project.
