Mourinho was absolute poison leading up to that final, calling players out in public and such. We were never winning that final anyway, and if we'd lost with Mourinho in charge this place would be awash with people asking why the fuck Levy didn't sack him and give Mason a go with nothing to lose.
I can't remember the details of that week but was there any idea at the time that Mason would step in as interim if we sacked Jose? From memory that was a huge surprise to almost everyone.

But my main point is Jose should've gone the morning after Zagreb. Not pulling the trigger then was weak. And I said so at the time.

Yeah I know is the dailymail, but so funny for the 'chiefs' to be so dismayed if there are any truth in this. They will probably underline the end of season trophy is a top-4 yet again.
Probably embarrassed at realising that we have a decent first XI but not squad.

It was worth the risk keeping him for that final if you ask me. I remember it coming out that the players were astounded he was sacked that week as they thought they had a better chance of winning it than without him.

Maybe this is our ceiling? It's practically impossible to get top players to come to Spurs, the only way is to develop young players into top ones.

He should have gone earlier. Things just got really toxic very quickly though (although it had been simmering for a while) and I think Mason was just an emergency appointment under the circumstances.

What? We played a full strength team in that final and were never anywhere near winning the league in April. You could maybe argue he was sacked to give us a bounce to try and sneak into the top 4
Moving this here as its more pertinent.

I meant he didn't want to play a full strength team in the league so he would have a better chance of winning the final. It wasn't hard to understand. Levy wanted us to play full strength in the league regardless because of the chance of top 4. We were never finishing top 4 barring a total miracle that season.

Yeah the writing was on the wall for Jose for a long time.

We had the bad form before the new year where stories started to come out. Then we had a few decent ones but quickly went back to being very very flat.

There was a string of games that included Chelsea at home where we looked completely numb after the Zagreb game and I was expected him to be fired at any moment. But it came a fair bit later

Actually their method was finish top four, that very method was what got Wenger the sack in the end because the fans turned on him because most fans want a trophy and merely trying to finish top four every year will ultimately leave the vast majority of your fanbase feeling bored and fed up as we're seeing now.
Wenger left after failing to finish in the top 4 for two consecutive seasons - not because they were merely finishing in the top 4 every year. They finished 6th in his last season, which was their worst league placing for 21 years.

Conte will go but the entire board needs to be gutted. Arsenal have done it and they are going to win the league. There is zero excuse now to have no strategy for the footballing side of this club.

Entire board need to go.

Don't want ENIC out, that's implausible and unrealistic

But Levy needs to step down

Mourinho sacking said everything we need to know about Levy

He doesn't care about the trophy drought he will always prioritise making money in the form of Premier league standing and CL runs

Now, he will and imo, he's not lying that he prioritises making money to try and build success on the pitch. But he has lost sight of what made us successful team

He has mentioned he wants to do better in the transfer market like were before, Poch's success was down a lot to the players he inherited from Sherwood and AVB. Only half of Poch's signings were a success with the majority coming in the first 2 seasons, after that it went all downhill in terms of signings

The real reason why we struggle in the transfer window, is because we can't sell players and now we are literally paying teams to get them off our hands

He needs to step down

Yea the players he was calling out, were players like Ndombele who haven't been seen since Mourinho left
