Yeah, I am puzzled what happened there - we build that obnoxiously beautiful training facility, had a promising crop of youngsters coming through then they all left and since then we've had... what, Dane Scarlett? That's one of the only names that's coming out of the academy that I can pick off the top of my head. Skipp was already a fair way along that path (and I still think he's got a LOT more in the tank, if he's in a confident squad) but it's really run dry.

Hopefully a new youth coach and a few scouts are high on the list of priorities for Munn to sort out, once we get the shenanigans of rebuilding the first team out of the way.
White, Devine… out on loan

I think Sacha baron Cohen is playing a character called "Daniel". He accepts that is not good enough and takes full responsibility - so he sacked someone else. I think he is a massive wum

Am I the only one who is massively concerned that there is apparently a player committee who has the ear of the chairman?

What chance has any manager got coming into this shitshow?

It’s been this way for years.

Why is this player committee a surprise to anyone? You saw the dynamic on the Amazon doc. This should not be a shock.

Didn’t pick it up from the doc from memory. Only time Levy really spoke to players was when Ndombele was having a crisis and Eriksen was on the verge of going. Of course, there was Rose and his outburst but he never played for us after that.

Im very surprised that we have a committee who gets consulted by the chairman on stuff like this and seem to have his ear. That completely weakens the managers position. It’s another sign of all that’s wrong with our club IMO.

Agreed, but what choice did he have? Keep Stellini after that show? Not a chance - imagine the reception next match when he walks out. Would've been horrific.

As said, bit of a lose/lose, but changes have been made and, hell, at this stage I'm just along for the ride to the end of this season, start over next year.
IMO he made it a lose\lose situation when he just passed the job to Conte's assistant, expecting that to change things.
That was on him and him alone, along with no plan to get anyone else in at all before the end of the season.
Thankfully i am numb to the situation now, watching the game Sunday being 5-0 down after 20 minutes i just had to laugh

yeh I am tired of the whole look at the business side. Well I am a football fan, I don’t give a crap about future hotels. I pay very high prices when I go and I expect something half competent. If I was less demanding I easily go to the local non-league games and with the cost of living I am increasingly thinking of going down that route as I am getting tired of this circus.

It would be nice to have a sober and measured look at what has actually happened this season and where we are in the league. We have been in the top 5 for most the season (after a good start to the season). In third and with one defeat (away to Arsenal - this season's team) after ten games.

The next five games we lose 3 against Man U (a), Newcastle (h) and Liverpool (a) - down to fourth. Off the pitch, at the beginning of October Conte had lost, to leukaemia, the fitness coach Ventrone, with whom he had worked on and off since the mid nineties. By all accounts he was an important and popular member of the coaching team. Many of the players seemed to like and respect him.

After the WC break only Arsenal and Man City manage to maintain any form of consistency. Most of our other rivals (Liverpool, Chelsea, Man U) are struggling to show any kind of form. We aren't much better.

In the end what makes the difference, in my opinion, is that Conte packs it in (and in mid-february we lose one of our key players, Betancur, for the season) after his Gall Bladder surgery at the start of February. He stays with his family in Italy (they haven't moved to London) and his recovery takes weeks longer than anticipated. On the 11th February we lose 4:1 away to Leicester (the game in which Betancur sustains his injured).

We lose away to Wolves but are still in fourth. The wheels only seem to come off in our last five games. All the games are winnable but we throw away a lead agains Southampton (Conte walks) and Everton (10 men). View attachment 125381

This is mainly Conte's failure and his decision to walk away from his professional obligations. He has good personal reasons but I think it showed a lack of class to have a go at the players (who share some of the blame). I will for one will not miss him.

Of course Levy shares some responsibility for choosing this volatile and difficult individual as our manager (leaving aside the fact Conte's football is results driven and pragmatic and not what we want to see). It's hard to be optimistic given where we are now, without a manager and a rock-bottom morale leaderless team. However we shouldn't join in the hysterical nonsense which the media (and some fans) are spouting. I think we will be back challenging for a CL spot next season, hopefully playing some decent football.

Name 2 good performances this season?

There was a lot of ppl saying conte would do this before we signed him, so why not have
The season died the moment Bentancur went down injured. Since then we've only won four out of twelve in all competitions:

  • Chelsea - poor performance until we scored from a long ranger
  • West Ham - one of the most boring first halves I've ever seen
  • Forest - this one was ok, against a team destined for relegation
  • Brighton - never deserved any points from this one, only a shocker from the refs got us anything here

We've fucked up the other 8 games - gone out of the cup to lower league opposition with an injury crisis, thrown away a two goal lead at Southampton, dominated by and thrown away a lead to 10 man Everton, failed to muster a meaningful effort on goal over two legs against Milan, beaten at home to Bournemouth and then yesterday's absolute shitshow. Am not even going to name all eight games as it's too depressing.

The season never started

We have had a couple if that good performances

Westham?
City

The rest

We lost the ability to play football

‘So they sacked the manager and hired his assistant as manager and then sacked the assistant and hired his assistant as manager.’

Saw this comment elsewhere, and just sums up how much of a joke we are as a club. Honestly we are a multi billion pound company, how can such amateurish decisions be accepted? For a man who was so meticulous with our stadium and training ground, levy just makes whimsical decisions where it matters most, on the pitch.

To be fair I don’t think he sacked Conte. Conte walked away.

Seriously, that 'COYS' thing is on the same level as Kane motivating players in the dressing room with his cussing.

Daniel should be ousted for that alone.
