The Peformance of Champions?

I don't mean that we will definately win the premier league based on this performance, but more that we kept going until the end, and won a game in the 94th minute, despite not playing great football in the second half.

Today we played good football, but nothing was coming off against a resilient side, even when we scored, a fuck up let the other side back into the game. But we still believed, we kept going, and we ground out a win in the last minute. That's what winners do, the win at Hull was lovely, but this is how Man Utd. have won all their titles, they have their Hull games, but then they have games like this, but they still win.

In believe that this squad have that winning mentality which Jol often talked about, and a genuine belief that we've always got a goal in us, regardless of what is and isn't working. It's good to see as we'll need this sort of thing throughout the season if we want to challenge the top four.

if we avoid defeat or rack up another 3 points against man u in our next game then ill start believing that a top 4 spot is well within our grasp.
untill then im just going to consider this a nice little run that just happens to have come at the start of the season.

Yup its good to see us fighting until the final whistle, i think a top 6 finish is looking likely if we can keep this up.

if we beat man u it doesnt mean we're title contenders or definite champions league contenders, we held them at whl last season and were 40 mins away from maybe beating them at their ground

the thing is, you can only beat and play against what's put in front of you, and different opposition produce and require different performances. the question is whether each week we can find the required performance, or at least find it for the majority of the matches

Chelski are, more experienced, as are Manure, but we can beat them, on our day, and even when we are not 'boiling'? We can take points off any of the other top teams and the only 'plug in our sink' is, as usual, the mid-lower league teams (Everton etc)? If we are consistent and take our 'Top 4' points we will sneak in (and even have a 'punt' at winning the EPL, but....let's walk before we try to run?).
We have nothing to fear except fear itself! Let us not fear fear itself. We have shown that we can 'raise our game' on occasions....so it is now time to do what the 'big boys' do (Pee in the BIG potty lol). The smell and view are much much better from here? COYS!

On paper our First XI is Gomes, Corluka, King, Woodgate, BAE, Lennon, JJ, Wilson, Modric, Defoe and probably Keane. At 1-1 today, 6 of those were injured and two were playing in the wrong position - yet we pulled it out of the bag. That's "big boy" stuff.

Potentially we have the best team that ever f**ked Jordan.

Realistically we can beat anyone on our day, but we can also lose to anyone on our day.

Stop talking about titles etc... and lets just get on with beating the next team.

It's the kind of game we would have lost last year. Last minute goal against us.

Birmingham don't have the quality to out play us, but they are good at killing the game, breaking the flow and irritating the opposition into a mistake - then having that one shot that causes a goal. They score and sit back until the final 10 mins when the opposition panic and leave holes. Basically that's what happened today.

But the boys dug in and kept going forward, the win is the sort of game we need be winning to be up there in May. Plenty more teams will do this to us.

I think you get a performance of champions when you get a ref winning a game for you.
I'd love it if Manu got the ball clearly over our line and it wouldn't be given then we'd go down their end and score.

We got ManU at home in 2 weeks next then Chelski away - both almost certainly without Ledley and Luka.

If we win those two then yes, we are potential champions. However I fear we're maybe being a little premature

I never said potential Champions, but this was a winners performance, and the sort of game which Man Utd. have turned out for the last 15 years, they didn't get the breaks playing football so dug in and won anyway.

While we're in the running lets be optimistic - Spurs for the Domestic Treble, you know it makes sense.

If injuries don't hamper us too badly then we are potential champions, as are 4-5 other clubs. That's not a ridiculous notion.

We'll be lucky to finish top 6 with the injuries we have. We're a stronger team now though, so you never quite know what we can do. If we can get a result today, not playing on top form, then who knows?
