The players we haven't sent out on loan

Bearing in mind how many of our players are out on loan now (by my count we have Button, Jansson, Alnwick, Walker, Archibald-Henville, Caulker, Cox, Taarabt, Townsend, Livermore, Mason and Obika), is it worth considering the prospects of those who are still around?

It seems as though Dervitte and Rose might well still be loaned out in the near future, but what about the likes of Bostock, Parrett, Smith and Butcher? Is it possible that they have been deliberately kept because they may be needed for the first team? I can't imagine the idea that no one would have come in for Bostock or Parrett given the potential they've shown and the hype surrounding them.

Notable as well that two of them are centre mids and one of them is a centre back - the two positions where we're arguably still light. That doesn't explain why Adam Smith is still here though, by my count he would be fourth choice right back at best.

Just something worth considering IMO, perhaps Harry and the coaching staff have high enough hopes for those boys that they were willing to risk NOT taking a risk on a Sissoko or Sandro for big money.

No, we have ditched reserve team - instead favouring to loan more experienced and established youngsters out.

Those we still need to develop with our coaches will remain with the academy and train at spurs lodge. Imagine Dervitte just still around as cover due to CB injuries.

I suspect the whole point of scrapping the ressies was to get our young players out on loan playing competitive football.

Last season, Jansson seemed to be ahead of Button in the GK pecking order and was outstanding against the scum in the FA Youth Cup. But he hasn't played any competitive league football, which is perhaps why Button was called back to sit on our bench. So, it makes sense to loan Jansson out.

Livermore is almost 20, and because of bad luck with injuries, is now in his first proper loan spell.

I'm delighted very promising players like Mason, Caulker and Townsend are testing themselves against seasoned pros at a decent level.

The players who do best on loan will presumably be the ones who get chances in our first team later this season or next.

I'm also delighted that Gio Dos Santos has NOT been sent out on loan. He's got lots of competitive match experience - a full season for Barca, 20 full internationals for Mexico, etc. He needs to be in our matchday 18, getting used to the pace and style of PL football.

Smith has gone out on loan, to Wycombe I think.

Bostock is an interesting one, given he was involved in some of pre-season, but given he is currently injured he might be loaned out when fit. Parrett might be considered still a little too young for a loan but then again Mason and co have gone out. Perhaps he is being considered for filling the bench now O'Hara and Boateng have gone. Although Jenas will be back to fitness soon.

We still have a very strong first team squad so I dont think Harry will be relying on the kids too much. When they are all fit there will be some good pros upset at not making the bench, so the remaining kids may go out on loan then.

Bostock and Parrett are still in the Academy - that is not a total bar on being loaned out, because so is Caulker. However Caulker had already been U18 captain, and it might be he is considered more mature.

I though Smith was on loan, or has that ended? He didn't seem to be playing. If so, by my reckoning, he, Callum Butcher, Arsenal reject Blackwood and forgotten man Pekhart are the only lads between the first team squad and the Academy who are not on loan.

Would not surprise me to see the remaining first team fringers, Bale, Dos Santos, Rose, Dervite, and even Naughton, loaned out.

Fair enough. If Smithy is still out on loan, poor old Callum must get very lonely in those training sessions with Clive...

Think I might have noticed that; at any rate the OS still lists him as a Spurs player.

He has been loaned until the end of his contract, then will become a free agent. Therefore he is still officially ours, but definitely wont be coming back.
