true but not quite true. this season we have 44 from 25 but last season from the same 25 matches played against the same teams we had 46 points from the same 25 matches. ( this is substituting WBA for Burnely and newcastle for Hull.) technically we are 2 points down on performances from last season:shrug:

Agreed. And our next 3 games, last year, substituting Blackpool for Portsmouth, only produced 3 points. (A win away at Portsmouth). A similar return this year would be very disappointing

players have to made aware how important picking points up away from home must be. we have 3 in a row coming and with man city away to united and chelsea away to fulham its a magnificent chance to get another 3 points on board. one game at a time must be aim. personally i think we will fuck up at sunderland as we never do well there.i so hope we do better this time.

if we cud win next 3 games i think we will catch arsenal for sure. city have some really hard away games and besides i dont rate them at all. chelsea despite been really poor , have to surely get in top 4 with players they have. it will boil down to us or city again i think. we have to be strong and pick 3 points up in places like sunderland. end of.

Big month. 3 big away games for us.

If we get through this next month, we will have played more away games than home ones from then untill the end of the season. If we achieve at least 3 wins out of 4, and are in a good position by then, I expect us to stay there.

Anyone done the BBC predictor yet? Still a bit early for me (would take ages) but anyone who isn't as lazy as me should give it a go (yes that means you).

oh does it!? OKEY DOKEY!....................

ok i did it, didn't bother thinking much about mid to bottom teams playing each other, just the top 5 games. It also hasn't got the Spurs v Arse game, or cfc v brum, but manged to work that out all by myself:) we could, by my predictions, afford to lose to Arse, but i put it as a 1-1.

The key, imo is the games Man C v Spurs And cfc v man c (on paper)

i scored these, Spurs win 1-2 and the other a 1-1 draw and the table therefore looks like this.

1. Man U 89pts
2. Arse 83pts
3. Spurs 79pts
4. Man C 77pts
5. CFC 74pts

This is based on all of the teams winning games that on paper you would expect them too, well least i would, whilst this is unlikely, football being a funny old game an all, it is equally unlikely for everyone. So whilst the points totals may be on the high side, it is eqaully reasoned for each team

My actual prediction is, Man U to win, and, as yet, the rest...i don't know

Until the cfc v pool game i agreed that it would probably come down to us and City, as basically, if we win our game in hand, blackpool = should. Then we have to play city, win that and keep the same points total for the rest of the games as city, and we finish above them. Now having seen how poor cfc were against pool, i really do think it perm 2 from 3. With the teams we 3 have to play, on paper i feel we have the "easier" run in.

Whilst the "pundits" etc maybe big-in up cfc as still in the title race....and whilst it is mathematically and technically feasible, with a bunch of IFs BUTs and MAYBEs..does anyone realistic think its true?

and Re Liverpool, whilst the same theory can apply, does any one actually believe that Pool can gain 10pts More than Spurs (after we win are game in hand:razz:) to finish above us?

Jeez, people talk as if all our rivals will go on some sort of run and win all their remaining fixtures.

Chelsea, City and Liverpool will lose games. More than a few as well. They simply aren't good enough to go on some long unbeaten run, despite what the media will tell you.

If we can get Modders and Bale back, settle on some sort of back 4 and our strikers start scoring the odd goal, we will definitely get 4th or even 3rd.

The next 4 games could very well define our season. Looking at them;

Sunderland away
Milan away
Blackpool away
Wolves away

That looks a very tough set of fixtures that could see us beaten 4 times but if we could win 2 and draw 2 it would set us up.

This is probably going to be the most crucial phase of the season because if we don't do well in these games we could very well find ourselves dumped out of the cl and overtaken by Pool.

If we were to somehow beat Sunderland this weekend, we would be so full of confidence that I could see us going on another run.

I love supporting spurs!

Yeah i agree, these fixtures are going to be pretty defining in terms of what we will most likely achieve this sesason.

I think the pressure is getting to Blackpool now. They're still playing very open but they have been dragged into the relegation battle now after five defeats.

I think we will beat them, their style of play will suit us and if they're nervous we could batter them. We are going to maul someone this season and I think they could be our fist victoms.

A point at Sunderland would probably be a good point and Wolves up their game considerably for the better sides - could see that one being a real tough one.

5 points from 9 would just about be enough to keep us ticking along in the race.

We need 6/7 points from those three games to keep up and maybe even gain on the teams above.

I said this at a similar time last season.

I think in 5 games time we will be at least 4th, possibly 3rd. Then it's a case of matching the other teams results.

We won 9 of our last 12 last season. Just sayin'.

Yesterdays result was probably the most impressive since Arsenal away, maybe more so with all the injuries we had to contend with.

First win there in 10 years? amazing result from one down this Spurs team keeps getting more impressive.

What if they don't? (n.b. Mr Pink on Liverpool beating Wigan:wink:).
How many people had yesterday down as a nailed-on victory for United:shrug: (Apart from me, I had it down as a Wolves win...yeah, 3 bluddy 1 at the bookies:evil::cry:).

And what if we actually do win at Sunderland (minus Darren Bent)...and I actually think we will get a result against them.

Really, Pinky, I like you, but you are just doing the same thing as the pessimists of the site: "What if it goes bad with us and good with our rivals?" Well, boo-FCUKing-Hoo - we'll just have to pull ourselves together and put things right in the next game, and hope they will slip up.

Sorry, but these posts are almost word-for-word the same as the ones we were getting at the same time last season saying we couldn't finish 4th, and going through each game saying "what if they win and we don't".

Just thought I'd bump my own post...you gotta trust Ol' SP (or should that be 'truss')

I have to be honest. Having watched all of our rivals recently, in terms of the quality of football we play, we are definitely not better than Arsenal, ManU, Chelsea or ManC.

I'm not saying we are fucked, but I think if the teams that play the best football finish 1,2,3 & 4, then we won't be playing CL football next year.

Audre est facre and all that, but just my honest assessment.
