I know I'm taking a silly post seriously, but you're not right. It only works if you assume that every team above them gets nul points for the rest of the season. Doesn't work like that ;).

I really don't know why I'm making the effort to think about this, but if:

Spurs and Arsenal draw with each other and then lose the rest of their games
Man City get no more than 5 points
Man Utd get no more than 11 points
and so on...

Villa could finish second on goal difference!

Not tempted to put a cheeky fiver on this happening? :D

I don't why I'm persevering either, but the other clubs between the top 4 and Villa will also (on average) get roughly half the 36 points available to them. Even if the two North London and Manchester clubs lose most of their games as you have described, then those points will go to other clubs who are also above Villa, so it will be impossible for Villa to overtake them. It's mathematically impossible for Villa to catch all of those clubs, because every club that loses points is losing them to a club that already has more points than Villa.

We have a very tough fixture list until now and the end of the season. And my nerves are already fucking shot! Lot of football left to be played.

1080 mins + injury time so taking into account 1 min 1st half, and 4mins after around 1140mins too go

Also Villa are terrible.

I get your point, but you would have to sit down and work it out properly to know whether this is or isn't possible. There would have to be a LOT of draws for there to be any chance of this being possible, and Villa would probably need to win by an average of about 3-0 every game. On the other hand, to add some "plausibility", Sunderland getting 29 points and Newcastle and Norwich getting 28 points each wouldn't necessarily get in Villa's way...as long as they finish with worse goal difference.

To win away at City is just massive. The 3 points are huge but the confidence boost the squad will get from this will be incredible.

Going away to mid table teams like Liverpool and Chelsea should be more comfortable now!

But seriously, I really don't think we should fear any game we've got let.

The team are really playing for each other and the manager. I loved the fact that during the post match interviews the Spurs fans could be heard singing out loud. the is a complete togetherness about Spurs right now running through the club and I can't remember anything quite like this and I have followed Spurs for a long time.

I think out of the 3 competitions the Europa has to take a backseat and is the competition we use our fringe/younger players in. League is obviously the priority and the FA cup is much easier to win. I just can't believe how good shape we're in and it doesn't look like the wheels are going to fall off anytime soon. The fact that we haven't lost by more than 2 goals all season screams "strong mentality". I'll live to regret this but, actually, I fancy us to do something really special this year.

we haven't lost by more than 1 goal all season, and we haven't conceded more than 2 goals in any 1 game

ps. if after typing this it jinx's us I might have to track you down:p

I hope we haven't peaked too soon. If we beat Swansea that will be 6 in a row. Are we due a bad few games or just keep pushing on in the next 12. Whatever happens I think we will challenge till the end. It's us and Arsenal I think

We will undoubtedly have a wobble at some point along the way. Even a lot of Champions have done so on their way to the title. It will be about how we respond in this moment. Does 1 loss become 2,3 and worse before you know it ? Somehow, I think we are strong enough to not have a run like we did under Harry when we slipped from 3rd to 4th, and to be able to nip it in the bud as soon as possible. We've certainly reacted well to any losses so far this season. And I'm not just purely talking about us going and winning the title, but at least holding firm and finishing in the top 3. There will be a moment and I just hope everybody keeps their collective calm and keeps supporting the team and manager all the way when it happens.

Why are you two crapping on about whether villa could come 2nd :D. Guess what they're coming last, you don't need to be Einstein to figure that out. Who gives a flying!!

You have GOT to be kidding :D

Asking for that is a bigger act of optimism than claiming we'd be challenging for the title way back in August.

If we don't now go on to win the thing its a dot on the card that the levels of hissyfitting on SC will reach previously unscaled heights.

Arsenal (3 competitions): United (away), Swansea (home), Spurs (away), WBA (home), Everton (away), Watford (home), West Ham (away), Palace (home), Sunderland (away), Norwich (home), City (away), Villa (home)

City (4 competitions): Newcastle (away), Liverpool (away), Villa (home), Norwich (way), United (home), Bournemouth (away), WBA (home), Chelsea (away), Stoke (home), Soton (away), Arsenal (home), Swansea (away)

Leicster (1 competition): Norwich (home), WBA (home), Watford (away), Newcastle (home), Palace (away), Southampton (home), Sunderland (away), West Ham (home), Swansea (home), United (away), Everton (home), Chelsea (away)

Tottenham (3 competitions): Swansea (home), West Ham (away), Arsenal (home), Villa (away), Bournemouth (home), Liverpool (away), United (home), Stoke (away), WBA (home), Chelsea (away), Southampton (home), Newcastle (away)

April will decide this for us. Leicester will drop at least one more game before everyone starts trying to giant kill them, so the challenge is on us to miss out on no more than 7 points, really.

How comes we always finish the league poorly when we're still in the no-hoper league then?
Do you think it's a coincidence our form since the Monaco game has been our best all season?
Our worst form of the season came before the EL started. May be we are just improving?

Of course I have, I fucking cringe at it every time I do hear it. You get 3 points for a win, 1 for a draw and fuck all if you lose.
Not sure you've had this answered yet, but let me just explain where the phrase comes from so you stop cringing and see how embarrassing the above comment is.

A win for us yesterday left us 4 points ahead of City. Had we lost we'd have been 2 points behind them. Thus a 6 point swing between potential results.

Palace is an FA Cup game not a league game. We have already played (and beaten) them twice in the league.
