By that same token isn't it more prudent to assume we will improve as we have the most known commodities?

We know we have a very good manager who meshes with this team and this league. He is also young and relatively new so could also improve himself.

We know we have exceptionally talented young players who cut it in this league and should likely only improve even more.

They have question marks surrounding their improvements which we do not have.
Context is a bitch.
I've never said I don't think we'll improve, and I'm not debating the most plausible source of improvement. I'm simply questioning the notion that a specific argument is invalid because it was incorrect last time. That's all.

I'm more concerned that needing to win against Newcastle on the last day, Townsend scores a hat-trick.......although thinking about it, the asteroid is probably more likely.

The asteroid is actually one of Townsends skied shots that's on its way back to earth after taking a trip around the sun

I understand that you're saying they'll probably improve. The thing is I don't believe the assumption that we're doing well because they're doing poorly, we've scored too much, conceded too few, and looked too good consistently for me to believe that. Then I've already highlighted why our improvement is even more likely.

So in essence what they do should be irrelevant so long as we keep on keeping on.

The league is just better now and more competitive it's natural that the tally at the top is less because of this. With UTD, Chavski and possibly one of City or Arse also not making Champs League this year if Wet Spam get in it could get even tougher. I definitely think we will improve next year and there is no guarantee that Chelsea, UTD or City will be any better as new managers adapt and learn the league. Imagine both will sign quite a few players as well which will also need to bed in.

For once we could be the stable team that only needs one or two to adapt and grow.

I wouldn't. I couldn't care less about the French league & their ridiculously uneven competition. I hope Chelsea get their asses handed to them & have 11 season ending (not career ending) injuries.

But that's just me. ;)

Are you confident in us winning say 7 or 8 out of the last 9 games? Tinted glass off?

Cry me a river little man.

Never said we would, or wouldn't. But yeah why can't we win 7 of our next 9? We want the title we have to aspire to title winning form.

Anyway If we win at the weekend and they lose its a 2 point gap with 8 to play. That's all we have to keep aiming for on a game by game basis, apply the pressure and hope it tells.

You're quite pathetic. I imagine you as ginger.

Easy tiger... You're right, it's possible, but I think most of us believe its unlikely.
As for your last comment, let's keep it on football and not personal attacks based on one's complexion/colour/etc... eh ;)

know where you are with this, mullers. Not quite agreeing because second would be fantastic, but I'd be gutted if it was to the goons not Leicester.

Can't see how son was a poch signing, even if i like him as a player. Hes just lost a little confidence.

Whether we got son plus a line leader, cor just the latter,i think it would have made a difference. Others dont. Noones. Right or wrong.

But what is wrong are those still saying fifth or sixth is ok, we will have our day next season...
I would not feel happy finishing 2nd to anyone when 1st is up for grabs, but Arsenal would be far more acceptable than Leicester. Arsenal are a richer club, they have been consistant champion league qualifiers and have won back to back FA cups, so they have pedigree. This is now effectively a cup final and we havent won this cup for 55 years, we have been consistant top 5 for 10 years, the argument has been from some get regular CL football in order to buy better players to win domestic cup competions and then maybe one day we can win the league.

Then a club comes along who has spent peanuts, who were nearly relegated last season, who have never been in contention before now could beat us to league, a team that I am sure if we played them a 100 times we would 95 times. I mean anybody who isnt hugely, hugely disappointed by that either is in denial or they need to reassess how they think about sport. This thread is called race for the title, if you come 2nd you have LOST, this is not an opinion, it is a fact. I cant for the life of me understand people who would take 2nd NOW. When we could still win it. If we come 2nd to Leicester I have to go through the grieving process an then MAYBE in years to come I maybe ok with 2nd.

And as regards to Son, even if he wasnt a Poch signing, I definitely think that Poch agreed with the signing. I dont think we would engage again in buying players he doesnt want.

Just for those believing the idea of us catching 5 points in 9 games is out of reach:

2013/14: with 4 games to go Liverpool were 6 points ahead of eventual winners City.

It happens, we're far from out of it.

You wouldn't be happy that the club achieved their highest placed finish for years and our highest place finish since the Premier League started? Forget who finished 1st, coming 2nd in the Premiership is no mean feat especially as we were considered to finish outside the top four at the start of the season.

There really is no hope for you man.

Feel like maybe I should take @Mullers back off ignore.
I do seem to be missing a lot of context on here but it's far less exasperating not reading his repetitive negativity.

No you cant just forget who finishes 1st because that is being in denial. We have the chance to be first so I want first not second. I make no apology for being a sore loser, if you want to be a gallant loser thats fine, but first acknowledge that it would be a massive disappoint to have Leicester winning the league ahead of us.

Choosing between Chelsea winning and the French winning, is like choosing between being boiled alive in oil or water. Both equally unpleasant.

I'd rather Chelsea got through for the points added to English co-efficient. Get to the semi and lose would help our top 4 quota being extended. More so if they got to the final but I'd hate them having the chance to bore their way to another CL title.

I would feel a little dissapointed to see Leicester's name on the trophy before ours but that frustration would be tempered with our achievements this season and the fact that Leicester City winning the league above not only us but teams who comfortably outspend us as well is something to admire about them and I can only hold my hands up and say well played.

We haven't failed this season we've over-achieved and to me rather than looking at things in isolation I look at them as a whole, it's not about being in denial, it's about recognising our achievements and appreciating it.

what anyone in the press has so far failed to mention is that Leicester have had very recent experience of winning a championship. all beit the championship. This can only help their mentality and resolve down the home stretch. This concerns me more than anything else.

on the plus side we do have winners in our team.

Let's not forget, we were around 9 points behind Leicester back in December and were only JUST breaking into the top 4 ourselves. We have come a LONG way. We have gone from a team lurking around 6th/5th to 2nd. Arguably the only real challenge to Leicester at the minute. Heck I'm more impressed we have managed to overturn a 6 point gap to City and 7 point gap to Arsenal, who would've seen those two slipping up back in December?

We have got that gap down to 5, albeit we should've cut it further but we haven't, we put together a massive run in January and February and we now need to do the same.
