Do have any idea how fucking big Lendlease is? They're on very continent of the world and have a string of super-high-profile projects in their portfolio.

This is capitalism: they start waving their wedge around and local planning authorities jump.

So what ? Means nothing have you seen Elephant park project or whatever it’s called it’s an abomination. They probably get deals because they are cheap.

Their developments are not high in quality. But “clowns” implies poseurs and fakes. They’re mega-capitalists with serious clout.

Lendlease Group is an Australian multinational construction, property, investment and infrastructure company headquartered in Barangaroo, New South Wales, Australia.
2020 revenue was $10.1 billion .

Quite big then :)

Fair enough, that's how you see it, I see it different. At the time the decisions were being made, the core of our stadium going support was in places like the Home Counties, and spread out round Greater London.
I think we could have found a more supportive Council and got a better deal elsewhere.
We chose to stay, and I think most fans were happy about that, so fine, I accept the majority verdict. Doesn't mean I agreed with it, and I think the current Council should be more supportive of us.
When Claire Kober was Haringey Council leader the council was pretty supportive and approved stadium plans but she was then sort of forced out , this is the Wiki entry..
" In February 2018, ahead of the May 2018 council elections, she announced she would be stepping down as councillor and council leader blaming "bullying" and "sexism" by supporters of Jeremy Corbyn."

Her successor then visited the club IN A RED SHIRT I know Labour colours are red but could have shown a bit of tact and I think one of his first moans was that there was no affordable housing in the proposed Spurs tower blocks.
I do wonder if the stadium would have been approved under the current Haringey Council.

There is a photo in their of Levy giving the guy the eyes. No doubt that would have to be approved as well by someone senior. You can tell the club didn't like him :ROFLMAO:

For those interested there are a bundle of documents here relating to the Planning Appeal against the refusal to grant the Club's Planning Application for the Goods Yard / B&M Sites.;

The Club's position is covered in these 2 documents.

I can see this going to Judicial Review for bias by Haringey if the Appeal fails.

The elephant in the room 15. Lend Lease have submitted a planning application for among other things up to 2,869 homes including 6 towers, 3 north and 3 south of White Hart Lane. 17 Some idea of the overall effect on considerations like townscape, views and heritage assets of the parameters applied for by Lend Lease can be seen by looking at the images produced in appendix 2 to Ian Laurence’s rebuttal. 16. Lend Lease’s application has already been written up by the case officer for approval once before 18 and we are told by Paul Reynolds it is anticipated it will be recommended for approval again when it next goes to members. 17. We will have to wait and see whether the application is determined before you make your decision on our appeal but put bluntly, it is inconsistent to object to the appeal proposals on the basis of the three RfR while at the same time supporting Lend Lease’s application (as the case officer does). 18. Also, it is notable that the case officer does not apply the approach advocated by Paul Reynolds at this inquiry to assessing the quantity of open space proposed 19 - put simply, the Council cannot sensibly object to the appeal proposals on one basis but consider the Lend Lease proposals on another.

The Appeal was heard on 12th July so a decision should be made soon.

Out of interest does anyone know if there has been a net gain in housing, affordable and otherwise, since the beginning of the stadium development process?

There is no change to the plans for the apartments behind the South Stand as to date this phase of the Northumberland Park Development has not been progressed. There is definitely an increase in numbers compared to the existing stock for the High Road West area proposals.

This comment by the Planning Inspector made me chuckle “The Council has referred to White Hart Lane once being a country lane, but I observed on my site visit that there is little, if any, remnant of this…….” ??

It is good news for Bahamas based TH Property Ltd and their development partners that own these sites as their value will have increased now that full Planning Consent is secured. How any financial benefit will flow into the Club is unclear.

It is bad news for Leandlease as they only have Outline Planning Consent for these sites and do not own them in any event. How this affects the business case for the wider High Road West Regeneration is unclear.

It’s under the radar great news for the area, surely? The lendlease plans were absolute dog shit. Cheap resi and minimal commercial units only interested in making themselves money.

Sure, ENIC and the Tavistock Group will now be the ones to benefit but they’ll want the development to be a good job as it only increases their other assets in N17. I can see them building all of this and selling it off though once it’s done.

The Club also have this Planning Application http://www.planningservices.haringey.gov.uk/portal/servlets/ApplicationSearchServlet?PKID=419623 waiting to be decided. It will be interesting to see if this now proceeds or they stick with what was granted at the Appeal.
Most developers would let the pending application run - assuming it would produce a more profitable scheme - and simultaneously get the design team working on developing the approved scheme. That assumes the approved scheme and the pending application are similar in scope, not totally different approaches.

The newer Planning Application must be due to be put to the Planning Committee soon anyway as it was submitted in February and the Consultation closed 21st September.

With this site, the Printworks site and other approved sites along the High Road in part or wholly ENIC ownership there is a lot of development that could be started. Will anything actually be progressed though as the final phases of the stadium development itself have remained on hold with no sign s of anything starting.

I wonder if they’re wanting the area to be on the up before building the flats on WHL so therefore making the biggest profit on there where I presume the social housing requirement will be less
