Who is the chairman of World Rugby again?......... oh yes, that’s right, Bill Beaumont. Ex English Rugby player with a French surname. Coincidence? I think not.

France v England final guaranteed.

You have to feel for scotland. They should have relocated that match and played it behind closed doors. That just simply isn't fair.

What? The Scotland Japan game has been cancelled too?

Seems like they're making it up as they go along a bit. France, England and NZ have qualified so it's easy to call the games off, but with Japan/Scotland/Ireland being a live group I suspect they've got more pressure to get the games on. There will be a reluctance to see Scotland knocked out in that fashion, but Japan also have designs on topping the group and the result affects Ireland too. They're waiting till the last possible moment to see if they can play amongst the wreckage.

World Rugby making it up as they go along? Nahhhhhh, surely not.

Bit like how the refs were publically called out in the first week of the tournament re the red cards. It’s clear no one is singing from the same sheet on that either.

I totally disagree with your point that England and France have already qualified so easy to call off. That’s hardly the point. The integrity of the competition has been massively called into question imo. Games have to be replayed

Apparently they decided not to use contingency plans for group games. It is nothing to with logistics. They should break that for the sco/jap game else the fallout will be terrible.

So what was the reason then if it wasn’t logistical? That makes no sense whatsoever.

Tbh, if the Scotland Japan game is cancelled you might as well cancel the entire fucking thing.

They haven't given one yet.

They probably won’t either. I mean, it’s hardly important. The biggest rugby event and they’ve already made the playing field uneven for some teams so no need to give a reason why you want to give an advantage to one of the favourites. I mean, you don’t want to go into detail about why you can’t do a replay do you.

Have they come out and said it’s not logistical. I would’ve thought that would’ve been their go to line.

The France game would have been the chance to give some of the squad a run-out. Vital for the rest of the tournament.

This decision - sensible though it is - puts England at a serious disadvantage compared to other countries who will be able to get all their players up to speed. Massive advantage to Australia.

See; I can do outraged creative bullshit as well as the next man! :D

Creative BS, you’re having a laugh aren’t you. How can this be anything but an advantage for you? You play a game less. You don’t need to get up to speed. Since August 10th you’ve played 7 international matches, including Wakes twice, Ireland twice and Argentina. How much getting up to speed do you want?

France was a game you were going to win, in all likelihood but it was pretty much guaranteed to be a bruising encounter. One which you’ve now avoided. I wish we could’ve avoided playing Fiji yesterday, I’m sure it would’ve put us in a better place moving forward (shit, we certainly wouldn’t be worried about Biggar and J Davies going home)

Surely it’s more sensible to reschedule games? Even if it means putting the final back a few days.

I'll concede a marginal advantage, though the point of players not having much if any game time is not irrelevant.

But the idea that not having to play France will give England the edge over NZ is really stretching it.
