SC Hivemind:

'Danny Rose is shit & doesn't care'
'Paulinho has been poor and doesn't care'
'Vertonghen is class & can do no wrong'
'Holtby has a great attitude'
'Adebayor doesn't care'
'Lloris is the absolute best'
'Naughton is useless'
'Kaboul is finished'
'Dembele loses the ball too much'
'Harry Kane won't make it'
'Tom Carroll will make it'

Ok these are variable but I refute to some degree, however small, all of the above. :)

In contrast, common views I subscribe to:

'Dawson isn't up to it'
'Lennon has been terrible for a long time now'
'Townsend needs to use his brain'

Anyone else got any SC hivemind views they just can't agree with? :)

Always feel we criticize our players more then we Support them....

We as fans need to always support our team through the good times and the bad. i do agree that it has been frustrating last season seeing sloppy, half hearted performances. Hope Poch can bring the team together and get everyone playing to the best of their abilities.

I also think that same view can be applied to matches at WHL. Seems like it's a pretty toxic atmosphere at times. Granted, we haven't played attractive football in what feels like 2+ years. I'm hoping with this new style we have already taken to, we will see some more positivity in the stands as the fans should be entertained.

yeah we do expect alot from your team.... and emotions run high during the match....... not a big fan of booing.... but sometimes the team does deserve it, remember in the WC how helpless Brazil looked in the last 2 games. they deserved the boo they got at HT.

But.... a brand new season, a new manager, and renewed hope. fingers are crossed for a good season.

COYS!

Some of these hivemind things are pretty true though. We've just built collective stereotypes for certain players. They're not always applicable, or even true currently, but they were made into stereotypes for a reason.

I mean Townsend seriously could stand to use his brain more. He has all the tools, but without the toolbox, as the saying goes.

SC Hivemind: My View:

'Danny Rose is shit & doesn't care'. He's not entirely shit but he's nowhere near as good as he thinks he is.

'Paulinho has been poor and doesn't care'. Substitute 'shit' for poor .

'Vertonghen is class & can do no wrong'. He's good but lacks pace and isn't as good as the hivemind thinks.

'Holtby has a great attitude'. So did Steffen Freund. Still not good enough for the 1st team.

'Adebayor doesn't care'. Adebayor is a moody diva who turns up when he wants to.

'Lloris is the absolute best'. No, Neuer is, but he is world class.

'Naughton is useless'. Naughton is an ok back up RB but no more than an ok backup.

'Kaboul is finished'. I hope not but it might be true.

'Dembele loses the ball too much'. Dembele has plenty of faults but that isn't one of them.

'Harry Kane won't make it'. I've changed my mind on this. I reckon he will.

'Tom Carroll will make it'. No. No he won't.

'Dawson isn't up to it'. Sadly true :(.

'Lennon has been terrible for a long time now'. Not terrible, just not good enough.

'Townsend needs to use his brain'. We all need to use our brains ;).

Just because lots of people think the same thing doesn't mean they're inevitably some weird psychological phenomenon - they might just actually be true.

For example, Lloris IS the best, and Holtby's attitude IS very good.

'Dembele loses the ball too much' Agree
'Harry Kane won't make it' Disagree
'Tom Carroll will make it' starting to disagree

'Lennon has been terrible for a long time now' Agree but has played far better in preseason

I just wonder if this is a product of the "modern game", I have no idea what it was like before the 90's.

Players now are really just mercs looking for the highest pay cheque and possibility of success relative to their ability.

It is all really just a farce, support of players and players support of clubs is just a thin veneer over the next big pay packet or chance of a trophy.

Doesn't apply to everyone but the vast majority, take Giggs and Gerrard - Lauded for their one man club loyalty, how many fucking trophies did Giggs win? I guarantee he wouldn't have stayed at Bolton his entire career.

I support the club and the shirt, players just rent it.

What exactly do you disagree about with these? I don't think anyone has said that Lloris is the best in the world, but he's certainly the best we've had in a long time and in the premiership too

'Danny Rose is shit & doesn't care'- He's not shit and his attidude is debatable but he's shown he's willing to fight for his place.
'Paulinho has been poor and doesn't care'- Yes, he has been poor. I think he does care though.
'Vertonghen is class & can do no wrong'- No one's actually said that. Verts is class but he most certainly can do wrong (last season esentially...)
'Holtby has a great attitude'- Yes, he does.
'Adebayor doesn't care'- Marmite
'Lloris is the absolute best'- In the PL, not in the world. Only Neuer is better.
'Naughton is useless'- At LB, yes- at RB, he's very good back-up and better than what people give him credit for.
'Kaboul is finished'- No idea.
'Dembele loses the ball too much'- I don't know if this is true but I don't know what he does do with the ball.
'Harry Kane won't make it'- Not sure on this one. I thought he wouldn't but he's impressing me.
'Tom Carroll will make it'- I doubt it- Bentaleb's far superior and Mason is showing him up as well.
'Dawson isn't up to it'- True, but it'll be sad to see him leave (if he does, if he doesn't I hope he recognises he won't play many games- he's a good leader nonetheless)
'Lennon has been terrible for a long time now'-Average, not terrible. And I think he used to be much better than he is now.
'Townsend needs to use his brain'- Yes, he does.

My problem with all of the aptly-named 'hivemind' statements is not whether or not they are accurate. It's the fact that they get restated, unadorned and unexplained, in post after post, thread after thread. That, of course, is how internet factoids get established, even (indeed, especially) when they bear little relation to reality. It's a small-scale variant on the 'big lie' approach to information.

What I don't get is the mentality that leads people to think that they must 'state their opinion' (over and bloody over again), without bothering to explain or explore or illuminate or comment or give examples or apply a personal spin or do anything except 'state the opinion': 'Danny Rose is shit'. OK. So? And Huddlestone is fat and Carrick never gets his shirt dirty and King ought to retire (© 2005). All false, all irrelevant, all restated literally scores of times, to no particular purpose, unless it was to establish a factoid in the collective/hivemind.

If I don't have anything to add to a discussion, I don't post. And if I have nothing to back up my opinion, or no time to write it down, I keep it to myself.

More hivemind. Good game, good game
Soldado
is crap and overpriced even on a free.Won't fit into any Poch. gameplan.
Davies is much better than Rose although evidence yet to appear.
Chiriches is an accident waiting to happen.
Lamela won't make it in the Premiership. Not tough enough. They said that about Modric I seem to remember.
Kyle Walker is ridiculously overrated. My gran is slower but more reliable.
Eriksen is the new Bale. ie our next moneymaking venture.

I worry just as much about those who proclaim that he is the messiah and is going to tear the Premiership apart on the basis of some year-old footage that they've seen on YouTube.

The honest answer is that the jury is still out and none of us have really seen enough of a fully fit Lamela in the Premiership to know how he'll progress.

As a bunch we can be just as blindly optimistic as we can be hopelessly negative. It's a defining attribue of being a Spurs fan.

Is that what you think or what you think other people think? If it's the latter then you've got that quite wrong...

The latter.
It's certainly what I've read on here.
Rate all of them except Davies over Rose at the moment.
Davies hasn't done much yet and Rose is looking better.
Eriksen will inevitably be sold on sooner rather than later.
Too good for a team that finishes 6th.
