'Danny Rose is shit & doesn't care' - I think he's just average who tried to make the jump too soon.
'Paulinho has been poor and doesn't care' - My friend described him as when you're playing an RPG and instead of specialising in anything, you just put a point to everything. I agree entirely.
'Vertonghen is class & can do no wrong' - He's a very, very good defender. He was utterly awful last year.
'Holtby has a great attitude' - myeeeeh
'Adebayor doesn't care' - He's massively unreliable but I reckon he cares in his own weird sorta way
'Lloris is the absolute best' - yup
'Naughton is useless' - he's good backup
'Kaboul is finished' - i mean...yeah
'Dembele loses the ball too much' - he can't pass forward
'Harry Kane won't make it' - he'll spend his entire career at west brom or somewhere
'Tom Carroll will make it' - he'll spend his entire career at derby or somewhere

Poch will turn everyone into a world beater

I have a good vibe about Poch, but I feel the majority are bigging him up so much that he is under too much pressure already. You would think he's the reincarnation of Bill Nic, Cloughie, Bill Shankly and Fergie the way some are talking.

He can only do so much. You still need match winners and quality in the final third and I still don't think we have enough of that, even with a decent coach in charge.

Fully agree. Really like him but we need to be realistic. We still have a lot of deficiencies in our squad

So essentially you're agreeing "he needs to bulk up" is bunkem then?

A great pre-season and powerful core, superb, but the Hive seems to think he should be coming back like Hulk or George Elokobi.

It's a straw man argument. I recall virtually no one using the phrase 'bulk up', or any similar expressions. Most of us have been referring to 'upper body strength', not 'bulk'.

'Hivemind' types, by definition, tend to use shorthand clichés and not to explain what they mean, but I was the one who started this trend of thought - I'm pretty sure I was the first person on SC to observe that Lamela was getting barged off the ball every time he tried to dribble - and I've been attributing this to his lack of strength and stability, not size, right from the start. I even went as far as to suggest that he should do Pilates, which I do myself and is the opposite of bulk-building exercise.

There's also the select hivemind that loves t say we put down signing englishmen in favour of any foreigner that pops up. I can't even big to list the reasons that's not at all true.

SC Hivemind:

'Danny Rose is shit & doesn't care'
'Paulinho has been poor and doesn't care'

'Vertonghen is class & can do no wrong'
'Holtby has a great attitude'
'Adebayor doesn't care'
'Lloris is the absolute best'
'Naughton is useless'
'Kaboul is finished'
'Dembele loses the ball too much'
'Harry Kane won't make it'
'Tom Carroll will make it'

Ok these are variable but I refute to some degree, however small, all of the above. :)

In contrast, common views I subscribe to:

'Dawson isn't up to it'
'Lennon has been terrible for a long time now'
'Townsend needs to use his brain'

Anyone else got any SC hivemind views they just can't agree with? :)
Hivemind...?

I think they are totally correct through (even if how you put was a little basic) observations by people without their head up their arse.

Vertonghen is class, but suffered like everyone else last year
Ade is overrated
Naughton is useless... on the left, adequate on the right.
Kaboul, may will be finished if he continues with his injury problems.
Harry Kane has every chance of making it.
Carroll has every chance of making it.

The rest is more or less correct.

Ade gets so much shit from Spurs fans that he can't possibly be overrated IMO.

When you look at his stats, he's been a consistent goalscorer everywhere, particularly in terms of games started. The anomaly in his record was the season under AVB and he's still paying for that with Spurs fans.

Except for the 4 goals he scored in AVB's first season.

Like I said, he is overrated, I never said anything about being totally crap :)

I'd propose that there are too many posts on this thread that are arguing about whether individual examples of hivemind thinking about individual players are accurate or not. It's not the point of the thread. It's about the mindset represented by these rigid, unsupported groupthink statements.

Trying to sift them into correct and incorrect statements represents failling into the hivemind trap.

It's not about whether Naughton or Rose or whoever is any good. It's about the kind of statement that becomes established through repetition and why.

I did mention that season was the only anomaly. Guess you didn't bother reading it.

Why? We're witnessing the accuracy of that statement right now. He's spent the whole off-season in the gym, he's visibly more powerful and it has immediately shown benefits in pre-season matches.

I don't subscribe to the 'bulk' part of the idea - he needed improved core strength, not to get ripped - but he's done exactly what many of us were saying he needed to do, which is to get stronger, and we'll soon see whether it works in the Premiership as well as it has worked in pre-season matches.

I suspect that this was what his long standing, mysterious 'back injury' was about.

Maybe not though.
