Regarding Sagna, I should have said if true, some journos were commenting on it this morning.

Either way its a disgusting thought.

So i take it no one heard the so called "riot" chants then

Couldn't miss them mate, it was a pretty constant stream of shite from the Scum until Walker shut them up in the best possible way.
Some of the chanting from our side was a bit near the mark, but i do think they well and truely crossed it yesterday.
They were a bit quiet by the end though:grin:

It was reported in The Sun this morning, so the journo's heard it.

Didn't hear the chants as apart from one round of "your support is fucking shit" I could barely hear anything, or at least anything coherent, from my vantage point on the shelf.

As for them being scum, well I'm not particularly bothered about what they were chanting.

I can see why people could find it offensive but then we chant stuff that people could find offensive all the time.

Spitting at anyone is vile. Unless it's Lee Bowyer, any kind of water added to his face would be beneficial.

In football you have all sorts of fans from all sorts of backgrounds and levels of tolerance when it comes to abuse. In my opinion it's just spiteful banter aimed at putting someone off their game. It's how you take it and some people get "uppity" about anything these days.

Saying that I'm actually having a "Sol Campbell is dead party" with free drink for everyone who turns up in footbal kit, when the scumbag finally croaks that is.

As I said, it takes all sorts.

Anyone else seen the statement from the club that they will ban all offenders. Isn't this the scum's responsibility?

I agree, while the chants are not "nice", when have they ever been. Cant help but think some people are being a tad sanctimonious.

If it's sanctimonious to say it's wrong when people wish other people are dead because of football then sign me up to being sanctimonious.

Yes passions run high in football and everyone chants things that they wouldn't in normal walks of life. But to actually chant that you want someone to die because they play for a team you don't like is not just nasty...it's downright stupid.

Sadly I think that's exactly the problem.

I totally agree with your point about wishing someone dead, but thats really down to the ****wits who chant the like. What can really be done to cure this? Unfortunately nothing. Also bear in mind the inherent Northern bias of the media. The Mancs and scousers have been ripping it up for years, (eg "how many lived" etc from the scousers) virtually without a mention in the press. One Spurs v. Arse game gets a bit OTT in the chant stakes and they're down on it like a ton of bricks. If the media hadn't raised it wouldn't be the issue it's become.

Poor effort by the Woolwich fans.

They could've at least come up with a dance to go with it.

The only standout thing for me in this, the 532nd round in this "what crosses the line" debate, is that virtually all of the travellers travelling community were singing it. At least when most teams supporters sing the most abusive songs it's only a section of the crowd - and we'll always be safe from accusations of that ilk, cos we all know that the West stand wouldn't join in

That's not really the point though is it? We can't defend these 'fans' by saying 'yeah well they've been doing it in Manchester for ages'. The way to stop these idiots isn't to ignore the problem and the press should be highlighting it.

I get what you're saying in that it shouldn't be made out to be a problem that only exists between Spurs and Arsenal but the press have equally highlighted the chanting in the Leeds v United game recently.

Let's not make it a North v South issue. It needs to be a decent fans versus moronic numbskulls debate...except sadly people who chant these things probably aren't capable of speaking let alone taking part in a debate.

Yeah - they ended it by stating "don't let a small minority of fans ruin your day".

I can assure them that the number of people singing "sit down you paedophile" was not a small minority.

Banning them would however solve the stadium issue.

Yesterday will stick in my mind for a long time. The wife and I were walking along the High Road when a group of Arsenal fans started chanting that my wife had a fat arse and hair on her lip. I was absolutely livid.
Take it she's shaved then

Do something about it then, sign her up to a gym and buy her a razor.

This is one where are no better and no worse than Ars*nal or anyone else.

What we used to sing about the traitor is on a par with the Adebayor songs.

Exactly. I have to say, I did get caught up in it a bit and in my foolishness may have joined in with a couple of "Sit down you...." and "Only one Arsene Wenger...." and I would be devastated if I got banned for it.

Having said that, I think it's more of a PR face-saving exercise and that the scum fans are the real targets for the crackdown.
